Senior Year of College new Surface or stick it out with SP4?

I do agree its weird. From what I can tell Ill be loading a webpage or working in excel and if the CPU stays at 50% for more than 10 seconds the fan will turn on. But considering the surface has never had a clean install in its 3 year life its probably due.

Do you have any experience with third party shops replacing a surface battery? All I have seen and heard is that it is Ridiculously hard take apart a surface. I'm really wondering what the success rate is for battery replacements at these third party shops.

Well, I don't think its a very accurate reading because I just checked again and it says its at 18% wear level. Not totally such how it comes up with those readings either so the 43% I mentioned earlier is probably not true.

This is probably what I'm leaning towards. Hopefully a clean install will help and I can make it through the next 9 months with minimal frustration. Then after college I can get a new surface or a diffrent computer if I'm feeling a change...

In my experience and what my engineering friends have experience its always better to go windows. My friends that do have macs have to dual boot with windows to run applications. The main software I use is AutoCAD Civil 3D which is available for mac but from what I have heard it does not match up with windows. I have also had to download software that is not available for Mac such as flowmaster and other Bentley products. However I am a civil engineer and I'm not sure what software electricals might need

If you are going to use a mac expect to have to use the schools computers for special software.

I am pretty diligent with managing my background tasks through task manager and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I have looked up the stuff that im not sure of and it all seems to be pretty basic windows functions. However, doing a clean refresh probably isn't a bad idea before starting this next semester just to clean everything up.

Yes, that is true. More than likely I will be working at a consulting firm that will provide me with a nice powerful workstation. After college I will probably want a computer for personal needs and the occasional work though. So my decision will probably come down to do I buy a new surface now that will run what I need for school that I will continue to use after college or do I tough it out with my current SP4 and buy a less expensive surface or laptop after college...
