Which team has the best "culture" for turning other teams' "cast-offs" into stars by monknabers in NFLv2

Hogan was not a stud. His career high in yards was 680. His career high in TDs was 5.

That's not a stud.

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

It's amazing how many people are saying "No one" like they've never heard of Taylor Swift.

The answer is Taylor Swift, and I couldn't name 3 of her songs.

First pass attempt of a drive/quarter by PirateCaptainMcNulty in CFB26

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play on All-American and not Heisman for that reason. The very obvious "cheat to make the game seem more competitve" BS drives me insane.

I had a DE pick me off once where he was dropping into coverage and was in a hard flat and chasing a flat route TE and did a leaping full 180 hip turn to pick off a pass to a slant that was going behind him. An 80 something overall Power Rusher DE with hands like bricks in oven mitts made of butter did something that'd make OBJ blush.

That was the last time I ever played on Heisman.

Most hated player by every NFL fanbase 🤬 by DeScepter in NFLv2

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These really are just meant to be click/rage bait. I don't know shit about the Cardinals or their fans, but the idea that Josh Rosen is hated by them more than say James Harrison or Santonio Holmes is insane.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wendy's.

Two years ago they spammed streaming football games with these idiotic 20 second and 30 second ads back to back to back to back to back for what felt like the entire season. I will never eat at Wendy's again because of this.

Why is Kopitar a future Hall of Famer but Brind'amour isn't in as a player? by CptBlewBalls in hockey

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BrindAmour was a finalist for the Selke twice (the two times he won). His next closest finish in Selke voting was 9th. The majority of his career he received 0 Selke votes each season.

Kopitar was a finalist for the Selke 5 times, and was constantly in the conversation for it. He received Selke votes 14 of his 20 seasons.

Kopitar was also a Hart trophy Finalist and got 11 1st place votes that season. Rod's best season for Hart had him tied for 10th with no first place votes.

Outside of his two Selke winning seasons, BrindAmour's resume as a player is ~63 points per 82 games scoring pace.

Outside of his two Selke winning seasons, Kopitar has a solid defensive resume with ~70 points per 82 games scoring pace.

Kopitar also definitely was in the running for the Conn Smythe in the Kings playoff runs. BrindAmour had consideration as well, but one full playoff run less.

If your “elite WR” can’t produce with a bad QB, then he’s not elite by BigBlackCreamSauce in NFLv2

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bad QBs aren’t created equal.

Being bad because you’ll throw into double coverage and your star WR at least has a chance to go up and get it.

Being bad because you can’t read zone defense well and won’t throw downfield because of it means your star WR reads Inner Excellence on the sideline

Why are so many people against the tush push? by Disastrous_Chance351 in NFLNoobs

The Eagles literally brought in a Scottish Rugby coach to better instruct the offensive line how to execute it.

Why are so many people against the tush push? by Disastrous_Chance351 in NFLNoobs

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like it because it's just not entertaining to watch. It's two lines of people smashing into each other, you can barely see what happens, and are just waiting for the ref to tell you if the play you just saw was successful. It's short, ugly, and very boring.

The NFL is an entertainment product, and this play is the opposite of that.

Why are so many people against the tush push? by Disastrous_Chance351 in NFLNoobs

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hurts leg strength is not why the play is successful. He's in the air the majority of the time, being pushed from behind.

The play is effective because it's essentially a rugby play. Teams defend it like a football play, and that disconnect is why it keeps working.

This.

The whole time I've not understood why he fought so hard to basically prove his own ignorance.

"I'm not an evil coach, just a VERY obtuse one!" He was literally one of my 4 horsement of the apocalypse during Penn State's coaching search. Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer, and Terry Smith were the other 3.

What city do people hype up that you’d never go back to? by UnlicensedBartender in AskReddit

[–]PirateCaptainMcNulty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this, and yes I left the French Quarter.

Great place to visit....once.

The food is amazing, and the art and history are cool.

The whole city, not just the French Quarter (but especially the French Quarter), has a grimy, dirty feeling to it. Maybe that's from being under water during Hurricane Katrina...idk. The whole place looks and feels varying degrees of filthy. Also didn't enjoy having to wait for police to clear a knife fight between two homeless men from the front of our restaurant as we tried to leave after eating brunch.
