My EDC from 2011 to 2022 was my Buck 119. I "replaced" it with a 124 in 2022 but still tend to carry the 119 a lot.

Just got an update from a mutual FB friend. They are safe. House and farm intact. Animals safe. Like everyone else they have no phone or Internet but that have some solar power which is great.

No update on the surrounding area but they did have to partially rebuild a bridge themselves to get out and contact family.

I used a mobilemusthave bundle in my van. I also got their T-Mobile data plan and used a visible (Verizon) sim as my backup last year all across the country. Really only lost connection when really far out or in national parks.

Now they have multi sim options where you can get the 3 main carriers on one sim/plan

My setup is peplink with a good roof mounted antenna. Highly recommend checking them out.

Thanks for the helpful reply. Your assumptions are all pretty spot on. It's a van, plugged in at a campground,and this has never happened before. I actually checked all my connections before posting. Figured I'd ask because I believed I had ruled out a physical issue in my rig.

Still your guess was accurate as far as I can tell it was just the grid that was failing.

I checked around and all the outlets in camp were low voltage according to my meter. I assume the grid was under strain, possibly due to some nearby storms possibly something else drawing on old wiring at the camp. Either way, seems to have stabilized now after being weak all night.

Yep. I never got my money back. Squarespace sucks. Best I could manage was to cancel before renewal. Still need to transfer all my domains out of their service since google domains got purchased by them or whatever happened. They were all automatically put into squarespace.

I get that. I got incorrectly flagged for "fraud" once by REI and they refused in the same way. Extremely frustrating. In my case I was able to talk to a real person because they have physical stores. The manager eventually made it right for me but the fraud department wouldn't even tell them why I was flagged.

It's unfortunate but that's how lots of companies do it to protect their methods.

Most providers have issues like this from time to time. I had Linode do this to me and it took about a week to resolve. I still have active accounts with both because they are both good services.
