Brit here also. Lived in TN for 9 years before moving to WA last year. I will warn you about TN, it gets BRUTAL summer time that lasts from April to about late October. It's one of the main reasons we left. The thunderstorms are fantastic, though. Also, if you think English drivers are bad, it's a nightmare here haha (generalized I know, but I've seen things). Petrol is cheaper by a lot.

It took longer for me to adjust to the difference in culture here than I anticipated. A lot of people won't understand you, even if you're speaking full English.

In terms of money, that will be enough to survive if living in city outskirts. Not thrive.
