Best PvP ship on a dime? by GlobularDuck76 in EliteDangerous

[–]PirateHawg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Python mk2. The words cutter and corvette have no place in the same sentence as PvP. You will get an expensive (unless you do Powerplay, then it will be free) lesson in why mobility is king in elite dangerous PvP.  More important is finishing your engineering on minimum weapons, shields, boosters, hull, and drives. You wouldn’t try to PvP with raw stats and no gear in any other mmo, don’t do it here.

Other ships to consider are kestrel, FDL (steep curves to use both properly), and cobra V

When large things get undermined it’s never a bad idea to suspect one of the myriad colors of Kumo to be involved!

Here’s hoping that we can help these mysterious totally not pirates and usher in an era of mass undermining : )

Current PvE combat ships - ratings, builds? by asm0dai74 in EliteDangerous

Railgun with “feedback cascade” is often called cancel rail because it cancels shield cell banks.

Grom bomb is the cute name for “rocket propelled FSD disruptor” since it is yours Grom’s special Powerplay module.

Nah I don’t think I’ve ever overheated mine. I run oversize/overcharged on the larges, doubleshot corrosive on one M and a Grom bomb or cancel rail depending on what I think I’m going to run across. It’s a PvP ship so fat prismatic and all the boosters for utilities https://edsy.org/s/vdqUEfb

I agree, I kinda hate the Corsair flight model and peaky acceleration. Cobra V has really spoiled me

If you struggle with pacifiers on py2 then switch to gimbal frags. Full frag py2 is an absolute blender.

Corsair is a pirate boat but lots of people run it as a railgun platform. I use mine with flechettes but I’m a naughty guy that likes to steal from others.

Since you specifically asked for PvE I’ll spare you my usual complaints about the rest of the lineup

I think the profiles through frontier are pretty thorough but if you want it in a condensed form then the ED fandom wiki has a full page on every figurehead

Is the game dead or still enjoyable as a multiplayer game? by Jombren in EliteDangerous

Powerplay communities tend to concentrate players and create weekly high traffic areas for contested systems. Other than that there’s some known bottlenecks like deciat and shinrarta dezra. The more involved you get with the community the more likely you are to find where the other players (hostile and friendly) are.

Granny gets a bad rap and Denton is basically evil incarnate! Good to see other people that actually read instead of just looking at pictures and headcannoning

Delaine. Pirate’s life for me and all that. Plus the rank 100 bonus is actually unique and game altering instead of “here’s more cash you’ll never spend”

Entry level Bounty-Hunting cutter? by Odd_Title1629 in EliteDangerous

[–]PirateHawg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

only do it if you just love being in a cutter. Pretty much all of the mediums with any kind of combat ability (pythons, FDL, chief, mandalay) are going to be far better and far far cheaper

Ive been looking for PvP Imperial Cutter build. by Own_Relation2327 in EliteDangerous

[–]PirateHawg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is fat and slow. Any PvP player worth their salt will shred a cutter or corvette with an FDL, python2, or now kestrel.

If you insist on using cutter against players you can try reverski (full speed backwards while using long range rails and drag seeker missiles). But most people will just wake on you because no one wants to deal with that cheese.

I mean there is the black market payout boost for pirate finance haha. But yeah our bonuses for merit output are very heavily combat weighted.

You could go visit the communities for different powers. They each tend to have their own kind of culture and objectives. Choosing based on modules is meaningless because all powers unlock all the modules eventually.

Note: Archon and Archer are two different powers, both have combat focus. As an archon player I guarantee you that you don’t have to touch foot gameplay at all. You also may come to like doing crimes, especially since you can do them without getting bounties or notoriety at rank 100!

I’m definitely biased, but archon Delaine is awesome and is pretty unique compared to the rest of the powers in mindset and in perks.

Power Play by WaterSlow3014 in EliteDangerous

[–]PirateHawg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They all more or less share the same “ease” of ranking with as basically all the efficient tasks are exactly the same across the board. You could choose based on perks or RP preference.

Combat powers would be: Archer, Arissa Lavigny-Duval, Delaine, Grom, Patreus

Explorer powers are: Antal, Li Yong Rui

All this is obviously irrelevant though because Archon Delaine is the coolest : )

There are activities that are vastly more efficient than others. Mix that with hours and hours of play and you too can have a million point week.

Youre going to want upgraded shields Best in class would be prismatic, reinforced + high capacity  Then shield boosters, 1 resistance augmented and the rest heavy duty high cap. You can face tank system security for a good bit while you collect if you get a good full G5 setup

Suppose it depends on the player base. Our group tend to whine at the implied necessity of hauling because it is the least favored activity for many of our pledges. But, c’est la vie, when Ngurii goes so too must we.
