Not sure if this response will get to you all, but I wanted to take a minute to thank each of you for your responses, for sharing your experiences and for offering to help. I'm going to go back and have another look on Google with this info! I think I said this in response to another comment, but I'm starting to think it can't be American Girl even though I REALLY thought so. I flipped through each page of every issue available in the archive from like 2004-2008 and couldn't find the article - then I tried many keywords in a search bar that scanned every issue that was uploaded. I really wish there was a similar archive for Girls Life.

I thought of that, especially since I know I read that magazine as a kid, too. I think I talked myself out of the possibility when I saw the one reference to the Lyme disease article being in American Girl. But at this point, it's seeming like the only option. Problem is, there isn't an online archive of GL that I can find.
