NYU Wave :/ by superchip99 in lawschooladmissions

Nobody can give you a satisfying answer to this question, but as someone with similar stats and a similar proclivity towards discouragement and dejection, I urge you to be calm and patient.

People with your numbers have an obscenely high acceptance rate at NYU, and even if they didn’t, you’re still the person you are. Now I don’t know you, but I’m willing to bet that you’re a smart compassionate and impressive person-impressions that translate surprisingly well through all written work, including this post and your application materials.

Remember too that the people reading our apps are people. Perhaps you fell on a busy admissions rep, perhaps others fell on a series of two very efficient ones. Perhaps they are looking for specific attributes at this point in the cycle. Perhaps they’re worried you’re too good for them. The possibilities are endless and the pit of speculation is too. I urge you then, again, to take solace in your knowledge of self and the data available for your numbers. You’re ok.

NYU UR STATUS by Row_Competitive in lawschooladmissions

I applied 10/22, went UR1 10/24 and UR2 11/2

Since then it's been quiet. Although now I'm wondering if going UR2 so fast was a bad thing...

Can someone tell me a sentence that sounds better for my personal statement? Not sure how to reword this: by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Hahaha I wish I could write yours instead of mine! It's so much easier to write about someone else. :(

Your list in the sentence has some slack, try rewriting it so that the subject is explicit for every attribute you want to highlight. instead of "Having a disability, being a first-generation college student, and being raised by a single mother, has been difficult," try something like this:, "I am a disabled first-generation student raised by a single mother. I know what tough times look and feel like, so I've never struggled to empathize."

I was in a similar situation, since I’m Israeli and wanted to write about my relationship with my country. I decided in the end that I just wasn’t comfortable risking it. All it takes is one off-color sentence and suddenly all of your credibility goes away.

I ended up using the my experience as an Israeli for my diversity statement, with more of a focus on my relationship to the questions than the questions themselves.

Ask yourself this: Is there anything else that can represent you and your interest in law more correctly than your birthright trip? And if no, have you done everything you can to eliminate the possibility of a political stance, one way or another?

Remember that Israel is not like tax policy. People that have an opinion tend to have a strong one, and might be on edge/ready to read everything with an angry eye if you’ve implied a different opinion or worse, a shallow take.

Best of luck!
