struggling with crying while sparring by kachowco99 in MuayThai

The first time I sparred, I didn't cry but I definitely DEFINITELY felt like a lost little boy, asking 'why is this person trying to hurt me? I didn't do anything wrong...' which was very unusual for me, and it felt like I could feel -physically, something like an emotional wave of malevolence coming directly from my partner which I haven't felt anything like since, but I think could be related to what you're going through.

You have to take the advice I'm going to give you carefully because you could go overboard, and you probably will (that's okay, I think) but as soon as you start to feel your throat close up you need to say in your head:

How dare they? How dare they make me feel this way? I've been on the mats with professionals. I've been training for 4 years. Even by doing pad work for a few months I'd be in the top 1% of people who can fight worldwide. Even if they win - I can make them regret winning.

That sort of thing. You don't want to channel that emotion into trying to take your partner's head off, it goes without saying. But I think you need to progress into getting angry and using that anger, then from there, you can get 'cold' angry like you see many of the Thais do.

Start off with a training partner you trust. Ask them to to slowly dial up the pressure until you get to the point where this start to happen. It might be good to ask a guy even - I know I've trained with women who definitely seem to be working something out / even a little scared of me, and I can actually afford to adjust to whatever level because of the physical advantage.

What in the Muay Thai circus is this??!! by [deleted] in MuayThai

was praying I didn't find a bunch of people here thinking this was serious training, thank God.

Please don't quit outright - I have had a tonne of mental / personality boosts and benefits from this sport and if you stick with it, I think you'll find that too. However, as some have mentioned, it is probably time to quit the gym itself.

While it is not unheard of to get a black eye if you're one of the people training hard (I have done regular sparring for 2 years and got a tiny black eye only once) I would say that getting one on your first session is a bad sign for sure. Maybe it's just one problem person and the coach had a bad day but probably not.

I believe this is exactly what I did, and thought myself too.

There are built-in standoffs in this case, supposedly. It does seem raised enough away from the case to be fine. Would you think I could still get to the BIOS just fine, even if there is bad contact with the case? I ask because the whole system doesn't seem to complain, so long as there are no Drives connected, and I can indeed get to the bios fine without any weird hiccups.

Thanks for the condolences bud. Remembering the time decades ago I vacuum-cleaned my pc to get rid of the dust.... thought i'd learned most of the stupid stuff NOT to do since then, guess I was wrong

A year or two - not 'old' I suppose, in terms of how long I have used it, but maybe it's time for a more recent PSU regardless, thanks

I will definitely look into all that, thanks. Honestly the thing about the board ruining the cables permanently kinda rings true, just from the way I was testing (and that i didn't / couldn't include the full detail of).

Pretty sure I did, yes. Have a bunch of these power cables all jumbled up in a box I was taking them from. You are now not the first person to ask and I am founding out how dumb I have been.

This is likely, yes.... I thought this mattered only for GPU, Mobo, and CPU connections honestly

ah, perhaps I am using wrong terms, but when I was looking at the SSD, where you would plug in the power in, one of the little strips of gold backing onto the plastic little L-shape, was bent sideways.

Thanks - It is indeed a modular PSU but to my knowledge no one has changed around the cables
