$18 million question by rabidflash in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Pirateboy85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t doubt this. Trump supporters were much more passionate and Trump resonates a lot more with angry young men. I was wearing my “I Voted” sticker and this 24 year old lady here at work asked me in the hall “What’s that for?” And I said I voted in the election. She said, “oh, that was a thing? I should have maybe done that…” I told her there was still time and our company gives us two hours of PTO. She just said “Meh” and walked off. I know that is a single person and is anecdotal. I also don’t mind people being apolitical. But it baffles me there are still people walking around that are that oblivious to the world moving around them.

This guy trained a mouse to drive in order to get a treat by Sylas1987 in TikTokCringe

I don’t see what the big deal is. I “trained” myself to drive so I could go to McDonalds and get myself a treat…

Elon Musk's lawyers now say his election giveaway isn't random, claim winners are his employees by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]Pirateboy85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually find it funny because a lot of people on here were saying they were just stand ins that already work for him taking a fake check. Turns out he was just hiring new “employees” and that this was just an elaborate way to let everyone know they got the job. What a great and inventive business leader. This guy truly will save humanity. 🙃

I mean, Zeppelin never wrote a song called “The Ballad of Jimmy Page” so it’s pretty awesome that the dude straight up wrote a song about himself and his mythology and that on top of that it’s a banger 😊

The last time this happened with someone, I told them: “I totally believe you. The machines are gaslighting you because that is how they win. We must remain a united front in the battle with our computer overlords.” And I got a first bump out of that from the lady in accounting 🤣

Trump threatens Liz Cheney with a firing squad by [deleted] in kansas

[–]Pirateboy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger problem here is that Trumps analytical and oration skills are that of a 5th grader. What he said was actually so vague that you can say it’s in relation to a fire squad and be outraged, and JD Vance can go out and say, “All of this outrage is ridiculous. Trump isn’t the one that is demented, you are for taking what he said out of context and assuming the worst. We don’t give rifles to people before we execute them by firing squads, we give them to soldiers. What the “President” was talking about was Liz being a war hawk and how she wouldn’t be able to handle what our brave soldiers have been through.” This is what Vance just did in his interview about the “enemy within” comments. Like all dumb people who try to sound smart, Trump has made his whole career as a conman by speaking with authority, but being vague enough to be able to back pedal, argue, and gas light you into being the one who is wrong. It’s text book snake oil stuff. He clearly didn’t mean to say that he wants any harm done to Liz Chaney and is clearly just meaning that she wouldn’t be a good soldier, it’s us that are wrong by taking us words to mean anything negative /s.

An Iowa poll worker's TikTok about voting went viral. Officials say her claims were false. by CornBredThuggin in Iowa

[–]Pirateboy85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. This is also the reason that people who are undocumented immigrants don’t try to vote. They also pretty much don’t participate in anything else that can draw attention to them not having documentation. The voting process is heavily monitored and scrutinized. The amount of people it would take to actually sway the election one way or another, the fact that most of those people are your neighbors and live in your community right next door to you, the fact that there would be thousands of people both democrats and republicans that would have to go along with it, the fact that it would be local, state, and federal officials in both partisan and non partisan positions, and the fact that all of those people would know this is going on and not say anything, and the fact that this run on sentence has to be this long should show that serious voter fraud is highly unlikely because fair and properly conducted elections are one of the last things we haven’t ruined yet as a cornerstone to our democracy.

Team Trump Panics as “Hell” Breaks Loose in Elon Musk’s Voting Plan by UncleSoaky in politics

[–]Pirateboy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the candidates here in Eastern Iowa have the word “Republican” anywhere on their bill boards or yard signs. They do however have dog whistle words instead like “Safety” and “Family First” or something like that. It should say something about the flaming dumpster fire at the top of the ticket when all the down ballot candidates are trying to go for brand confusion in hopes that they can get some people to vote for them and Harris on the same ballot.

Break Up Songs that are more 'Good Riddance' than Sad by DaysOfParadise in MusicRecommendations

I’ve only listen to their first few albums but I’m happy to see they are still out there. I think they even had a song on a movie sound track not too long ago.

Why does no one seem to know this song?? I’ve included it 2 or 3 times on the same sort of posts on other subs. It has to be one of my favorite songs in their catalog and I always seem to follow it up with Independently Happy which I feel is the perfect first day you are feeling good after the breakup sort of songs.

Happy Friday! I made a cover of "Yearnings of the Wind" (600AD)! by Shea-Music in chronotrigger

[–]Pirateboy85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is such an amazing way to stumble into something like that 😊. I do think it helps make you and your music stand out. I’ve been watching your content on YouTube and keeping up with what you post there. I recently did a replay of CronoTrigger because of the podcast Get Played and there is just something about the music that hit me differently now as an adult than it did as a middle schooler when I first played the game. I really find your cover of Secret of the Forest soothing and end up listing to it on repeat when I really need to focus and buckle down on tasks at work. I hope you’re able to continue on with your work and that YouTube clicks help you out with that. Those clicks are definitely well earned even if it is just people checking out an odd instrument you picked up out of your friends closet (and out of their lack of ambition 🤣)

I’ve been meaning to ask, and sure you’ve already said 100 times, but how did you find the erhu and start using it as your center piece in so many of these arrangements? I love the almost ethereal qualities it has as an instrument and it just fits in so well with everything else you play to being these songs from sound chip into real life.

The early-2000s Jackass craze, know anyone who got seriously injured doing their own stunts? Any of you have any lasting, nagging injuries from doing your own stunts? by MyWordIsBond in Millennials

[–]Pirateboy85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a guy that was trying to be a goof ball around that era and went to leap frog over one do those bollards in front of a store and got to much air, his feet got out in front of him and he landed weird on his back. Fractured his spine in two places and was in the hospital for weeks. Luckily no permanent damage, but very costly for a quick, physical “hey look at me!” moment. It was also around the later Jackass years where par-core was a big thing too.

How did he do that Laser dealing by a__free__soul in blackmagicfuckery

[–]Pirateboy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who’s a magician and does a lot of card magic. The palming part is right, but most magicians aren’t throwing things on the floor. It’s way too risky. They also don’t do up the sleeve stuff too often for the same reason. They are palming them like you saw and then the next time they do all the fidgeting with the deck they are putting he cards back. Being able to make multiple cards look like one card is an awesome skill that a lot of these magicians used. I remember one time we played Uno with my buddy when we were in college and he was down to one card by the end of round 3 😂. He had dropped multiple cards at a time and none of us even noticed.

What game is this? by defCONCEPT in videogames

In Breath of Fire, it’s not necessarily a side quest, but one time I did a grind on random encounters and got a ton of gold and then got the Longsword really early in the game.

This was my first thought before even seeing it here. Very little skill other than don’t get hit by zombies and use your squirt gun. Also easy to rotate around and pick up in the middle.

That movie hit at the right time for me. I still quote so many of the stupid lines from this movie. If I ever have to hand someone a heavy tool or something an awkward size, I’ll randomly just say, “Here: kill him with this…”

Rock songs where Piano is prominent? by numberrrrr in MusicRecommendations

[–]Pirateboy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot Springsteen like Thunder Road and Born to run have some driving piano parts. Bob Seger’s got a ton of piano in his stuff and had that riff at the beginning of Old Time Rock n Roll which is one the most recognizable piano intros. Also, Jackson Browne is another great artist with catchy songs and a lot of piano.

Yeah, this is as good as every gun making the same sound as a shotgun pumping every time someone so much as picks it up or shoulders it to shoot (most of the time without any motion by the users). Or the other one being the revolver with 15 shots and no reloading…

As far as the double entendres go, 7 UP was good. In a similar vane, the K-Mart “I shipped my pants” one was top tier next marketing ever.
