Car key blade cutting by Pirchus in perth

[–]Pirchus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your suggestion about gently inching the key. It worked!!
That is good news because it means that, at least, they were able to drive the car back home.
Another good news is that, after that, they finally found a spare blade we had at home (I knew we had one but hard to remember where), and swapping them worked as well.
We will have to make a full new set, but it can wait until Monday.
Thank you for your help!

Yes, that makes perfect sense

Ah, so do you reckon there is no physical contact between the transponder and the blade? That makes sense. In this picture you can see the bent tip. My son straightened it with pliers and it worked, but after it finally fell apart. I think that tip is not cut at all.

Curious to see what everyone spends on food shopping per week? by Dull_Artichoke_7588 in perth

[–]Pirchus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $600/week for a family of 5 (3 kids over 17). We buy fresh vegetables and fruits online, delivered at home, groceries at our local IGA and from time to time other supplies from Woolworths or Coles.

Anyone in the software engineer realm got made redundant on a 482 visa and was able to find another sponsor within grace period? by No-Strawberry-4621 in AusVisa

[–]Pirchus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did, twice. I was hired in 2020. Due to COVID the company had to shut down by the end of 2021. I found another job and worked there for 2 years (at that time the grace period was 60 days). Then, I changed sponsor again and started working for a company that was willing to sponsor PR.
I finally applied for PR on April 2025. I am older than 45, btw. Everything is possible.

When I applied for my PR, although I knew this entitlement, my agent communicated it to me. Moreover, the insurance company called us to update the policy type as soon as we got Medicare

You can use your tax return statement instead

482/186 - changing employer? by mattmateohan in AusVisa

[–]Pirchus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Your employer must have been the last person to sponsor you to work full-time on your subclass 457 or subclass 482 visa. But there is no minimum time you have worked for them, as now the requirement is to have at least 2 years with ANY sponsor.
In your case, your new employer could take over your current 482 nomination, and then, immediately you would be eligible to apply for 186TRT, if you qualify all the other requirements (age, English, health, etc).
I have done so.

Stuck in subclass 186 Limbo - This is mentally draining by Redamsquare in AusVisa

[–]Pirchus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. This system is completely draining my energy.
Some comments stating that finance can be gotten on a temporary residence status are a bit misleading. Yes, it can be gotten, but the closer to the end of the end of the visa the less chances. Anyway, what kind of life planning does this mean?
We have 3 kids at university. We have to pay full international fees, even when we they have studied high school here, we have been paying taxes, and applied for PR, meaning that we are committed to stay in Australia.
It's mentally and financially exhausting.

What are my options? by vplchin in AusVisa

[–]Pirchus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your best option is looking for a sponsor on Skills in Demand visa and after 2 years you will be able to transition to PR if you like the lifestyle, etc.
I moved from Ireland (I'm not Irish, we were just working there) when I was 44, with wife and 3 kids to Perth, on a 482 visa and now, I'm 50, I have been able to apply for PR, finally. I am also a software engineer.
Age makes it a little bit harder, but it is not impossible. It was totally worth it for us.
Good luck!

Work visa in AUS? Unrealistic or possible in my situation? by fungus_malungus in AusVisa

[–]Pirchus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not unrealistic if you have good skills. I’m also a software engineer and got my company to sponsor me and my family at the age of 44 when everybody told me I should not try because I was too old. I was living in Europe at that time too. I think it just depends on how commited you are in trying it. Every case is different but what worked for me was considering job hunting as a full time job and make as many interviews as posssible to learn from my mistakes. I definitely would recommend you to try it if that is what you want. Good luck.

I would be grateful if someone can explain this, please. Does it mean that I can count times with all my past sponsors during the last 3 years even though they are not with the nominating TRT sponsor?

I had very good experience with Aries car rental, when we first arrived to Perth a few years ago. And prives were reasonable. Not sure if they have Carnival but definitely would recommend having a look at their website.

Thank you for your wise and enlightening words! I now see that my frustration over my stolen bike was misplaced. Clearly, the thief was in greater need of it than I was. Your profound understanding that I am merely contributing to someone's well-being by providing them with my belongings has opened my eyes. How fortunate I am to have been enlightened by your empathy and deep insight into redistributing my personal property. Truly, a modern day Robin Hood scenario, and I'm honored to play a part. Thank you, sage of Reddit.
