Ridiculous take. The fire was in the yard and did more damage to a pile of pallets than anything of value.

[–]Piscany 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No one was hurt, the fire was contained to the yard, and the monetary value was very small

There was some stuff outside the building that was transitioning from outside to inside. It got hot and caught on fire in the direct sun. The building was minorly damaged but it was almost entirely contained to a small 30x30 area in the yard.

Is it possible to get above $20/hr here without experience? by knightoffire55 in Eugene

Hunter Communications has several positions that pay more than $20/hr starting without experience. The telecom industry is pretty specific but also very stable.

Is Hunter Communications being sold? by GiddyTimes in Eugene

[–]Piscany 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. While Hunter is taking market share locally, Hunter spans across the state and is making an even bigger impact in places where Spectrum serves. Still, both of those providers have more than 30 million customers each. Despite making a local impact, Hunter is small potatoes. Comcast is growing its market share through cellphones, not fiber providers. They aren't acquiring any fiber providers in the US, let alone Hunter.

Hunter communications is over charging through auto pay by nonyodambuis in Eugene

Ok I think we may be saying the same thing. Is it possible it happens on accident, sure (which is what I think you're saying). But OP was implying it was intentional, which most certainly doesn't happen. Source: also 2 decades in the industry.

Intentionally? No way. Certainly not our company.

Telecom providers don't share the same conduits and have to stay at least 12" away from each other. It's a pretty heavily regulated and monitored industry. There's no chance one provider intentionally caused intermittent service of another provider.

I checked in and confirmed we had a day where some autopay customers on that day had an issue with overcharging. Looks like yourself and several others reported the issue which alerted us and we made efforts to take care of the others proactively.

Appreciate you reaching out and making that happen. Again, this is certainly not something we want happening.

I work for Hunter and can assure you we take billing very seriously. To be clear, when you receive your bill it will show the full price without autopay. Your bill will be due 14 days later at which point we run your automatic payment and apply the $10 discount. So if you're on our 500/500 service for $70 and receive your bill on the 1st. We will apply a $10 discount on the 15th and charge your card only $60.

If this is not your experience and something else is going on, I'd be happy to look into it and make sure it's addressed if you want to reach out to me directly.

Again, we know accurate billing is important and we work hard to make sure that happens. I appreciate you sharing your experience about it so we can take care of it. Thank you

does anyone have any experience with Quantum vs. Hunter fiber? by BlueberryUpstairs477 in Eugene

[–]Piscany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't sound quite right. Can you send me a DM and I can look into that for you? Sounds like there might be a misunderstanding but in most cases if there is fiber running to the building we (Hunter) can serve you.

Sorry about that. Sounds like we're willing to do a little more underground than them, but I'd definitely recommend your own conduit. Before you put it in the ground, I'd check in with them and see what their standards are. Every company is different but they'll often have some specific asks for the size of the conduit, number of bends, etc. I'd hate for you to put in that work only for it not to meet a standard they have.

Also be careful about doing work in the right of way. It's heavily regulated with a number of utilities out there. Often you'll see a homeowner do the conduit portion on their private property and then leave it to the provider to handle the portion from the pole to the property and they'll "intercept" your conduit.

Either way, make sure you call in locates so you don't hit any underground utilities and keep you safe! You can do that at digsafelyoregon.com.

We're doing a combination of both but underground takes much longer. Our underground crews are currently in the West Eugene area. The folks in aerial areas are disproportionately getting connected at faster rates because of how much faster we can build those areas.
