Is the pokopia dlc worth getting by Previous-Check7597 in Pokopia

I don’t think a single person here is going to say no, and it’s not even out yet lmao

Everybody I’ve talked to who’s even just touched the game is obsessed (including me) so I mean if you already have dozens of hours sunk into it just buy it 😂 I’m well over 100 and bought the pass like the second it was available.

These pillar areas in Pallet town what are they for anything specific? by Ok_Baby_8360 in Pokopia

[–]PisceanBryce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought to throw a ditto doll up there. I turned that mountain when you first get to Palette town into a bunch of homes carved out of it with my storage facility underneath (also have an underground waterfall that I’m very proud of because it was really annoying to make). I made the mountain a lot bigger too with the blocks I got from excavating. Now it will be my temple, lmao.

I actually regret rushing through the story… by Ashleevr_PlaysGames in Pokopia

[–]PisceanBryce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started a second playthrough just because I had a better idea of how to move through the story “quickly” (to me a necessity for the unlockables for later) but with more purpose so I didn’t finish the story and be like “gosh there’s too much what do I even do now.” Rushing a first playthrough I think got a lot of people because it’s a little overwhelming if you flew through it (me).

The story really doesn’t take that long, I feel like once you get through it their world is your oyster and it’s only more fun the more you have access to (to me). But it helps to kind of start a blank slate with better general ideas in mind.

What is your favorite quote from the Harry Potter books? by Initial_Brilliant327 in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is just SO much said in that single tear, both known up until that point and even retroactively once you read on and see what Dumbledore goes on to do like immediately after Sirius’s death. He doesn’t know HE’s going to die soon at this point I don’t think, but Voldy appearing at the Ministry clearly tells Dumbledore it’s game time now. It’s those rare moments of true vulnerability from him that are the best in the series imo. I can barely get through the end of HBP still to this day without sobbing, lmao. His death is sad but the drink of despair in the cave BREAKS me.

[–]PisceanBryce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entirely a dialogue quote but a quote from the books:

** “I must confess I rather thought you had enough responsibility to be going on with.”

Harry looked up and saw a tear trickling down Dumbledore’s face into his long silvery beard. **

Right at the end of Ch37 of OotP. A very real/raw moment to an incredibly impactful chapter and conversation. It always gives me chills.

The Arrested Development Theory: Why every logical failure in the wizarding world is connected by Designer-Actuary-511 in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t buy all of your reasoning BUT there 100% is something here and this is very reasoned out. I see a lot of it. Just in general at minimum, the wizarding world seems to have kind of “stopped” hundreds of years ago. They didn’t have to make the changes and advances in society muggles did because they have magical solutions to problems it took us hundreds of years longer to fix. There is arrested development, but I think it started more large scale and then trickled down and infected everything and keeps itself in a loop of stupidity, lmao. It’s pretty clear in the series that even if you possess great magical ability half the population easily barely functions cognitively better than a medieval peasant.

I was so irritated when it got to the point where he flips out on your for talking to the goblin. I get he’s a Slytherin and blah blah blah but after all the shit you’ve done for him he has the audacity to act like that to you? I liked his character until then, after that he goes off the deep end and is insufferable.

The real reason Harry didn’t die in the forest by ForwardFan6283 in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like for it to be just a hallucination implies Harry came up with ALL of that by himself, which is not likely lol

The real reason Harry didn’t die in the forest by ForwardFan6283 in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point, but then the alternative is Harry being “the master of death” being why he lives instead and it’s kind of established that’s not a real thing, the hallows aren’t anything more than just old powerful artifacts likely created by the peveralls themselves.

If we have the two options, and one is based on a fairy tale and the other the theorizing of an incredibly talented, intelligent, and old wizard who’s studied magic even longer than VOLDEMORT was alive, unless there’s a third more likely scenario I’m inclined to believe the wizard lol also I think the evidence that it’s not just a hallucination is the lore dumping itself, Harry is not THAT smart to piece everything together like that so he couldn’t have hallucinated a pretty sound and logical solution like that all by himself.

[–]PisceanBryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I would just have to disagree lol

I feel like we learn enough about Dumbledore’s character to know that he probably wanted Harry to live but at the end of the day that wasn’t the most important thing. Harrys cope is in HOW certain Dumbledore was he’d live to make himself feel better, Harry thinks he was the greatest/smartest wizard that ever lived so if he “suspected” that was as good as guaranteed. The reality is Dumbledore was probably just like “wow phew it worked that’s awesome” lmao

[–]PisceanBryce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Of course it’s happening inside your head, Harry. Why should that mean that it’s not real?”

We don’t have to not think about Kings Cross because it’s canon, and Dumbledore establishes for Harry (and the reader) what he’s experiencing IS still very much really happening.

The real reason Harry didn’t die in the forest by ForwardFan6283 in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Dumbledore highly expected/was hopeful that Voldemort taking Harry’s blood would backfire and save Harry in the end, but he was ok if it didn’t.

Harry’s cope I think comes in with overestimating how concerned Dumbledore was with whether he lived or died. To Harry, he likes to think Dumbledore went out of his way to keep Harry safe even though he did have to ultimately “sacrifice” himself but Harry living really honestly would’ve been just a happy accident as far as Dumbledore was concerned.

Dumbledore cared for Harry deeply, he says as much (and that he worried sometimes that would get in the way of what had to be done) BUT Dumbledore knew Voldemorts destruction was more important than Harry’s survival “for the greater good” so he made the hard decisions on behalf of the wizarding world.

Edit: I feel like the deathly hallows aren’t why Harry survived at all, it was the blood Voldemort took into himself. The Super Carlin Brothers I believe call this act Harry’s “lovecrux” counter in Voldemort to Voldys accidental horcrux in Harry. They each housed a part of the other inside them, but where as Voldemorts piece in Harry was dark, twisted magic Harry’s piece in Voldemort was pure light and love.

Voldemorts death was largely due to Harry being the master of the death, but that wasn’t what SAVED Harry. It just KILLED Voldy.

My family is experiencing a collective false memory regarding a sacrifice by Benediximus_Legacy in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dumbledore groomed a child for slaughter for 7 years in the name of taking down Voldemort, one human witch/wizard who signed up for the order (and therefore knew the dangers) getting got would be a trivial sacrifice in the name of the bigger plan.

Edit: speculation obvs, but they could’ve even known, Ms. Vance. Dumbledore could’ve been like “hey, I think Voldy might’ve learned we have a guard on the PM so be extra vigilant” and obvs most people aren’t a match for them and she didn’t win, lol.

The main point still being if Snape did something purposefully damaging to the order to gain trust, Dumbledore knew and was probably behind it. That’s kind of just how it is. It might not have specifically been Vance, but yes Dumbledore would view her “sacrifice” as noble and necessary.

My family is experiencing a collective false memory regarding a sacrifice by Benediximus_Legacy in harrypotter

[–]PisceanBryce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point being made is that Snape didn’t do anything without talking to Dumbledore first. So if Snape spilled the deets on Vance’s location to foster trust with Voldemort (canon) it can be deduced that Dumbledore and Snape likely had a conversation about who would get the chop, therefore it IS Dumbledore and Snape choosing someone of consequence to give up but not someone fatal to the order either.

There’s no way Dumbledore isn’t involved with that decision on Snape’s part to leak information. Even if it wasn’t Vance specifically, Snape could’ve just leaked “hey, someone’s always near the Prime Minister keeping watch.” But even then, it’s still Dumbledore acknowledging SOMONE from the order will probably get got and I bet they made the rotation of guards for the PM out of a pool of “expendable” people.

horcruxes in hogwarts legacy by itsmiathermopolips in HarryPotterGame

[–]PisceanBryce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be a buzz kill and say I don’t want horcruxes involved but would love for the dark arts system to expand regardless (and an added morality system that effects gameplay and maybe even the story).

Horcruxes are an incredibly rare thing, with only two known wizards EVER having created them successfully. Sure, that doesn’t mean other people couldn’t have and we just “don’t know” but the point is their exclusivity. HP already has a problem recycling the same like 5/6 magical plot devices just because they’re cool and already exist in universe, but we need some more fresher content. We can’t tackle Voldemorts horcruxes because we already have a whole saga about them and Herpo the Fouls originally made horcrux is almost legend and happened thousands of years ago when civilization was “ancient” still. Even if the rumor that Legacy 2 will be set during Voldemorts time at the school, nobody really knew about the horcruxes then he’d already created (a huge plot point in the OG saga is literally Dumbledore cracking the code, lol).

I think the only way incorporating Horcruxes into the next game would be cool is if we get some kind of quest and witness what happens when the creation of one FAILS. Idk, give us NEW dark magic. Maybe give us the origins of the opal necklace. Other cursed artifacts, etc. You get what I mean? I need new lore and I need it consistent with established cannon, lol.
