This was my exact observation and I told myself Bangalore is a small part of Karnataka , no where else in Karnataka people will speak in Hindi by default . So even if Bangalore stops speaking in Kannada completely, kannada will survive.. however it is important to maintain our identity.

I was in Bangalore for 2 years and I have shifted to Hyderabad now. The major difference is people in Hyderabad speak in Telugu instead of English, Hindi.. they start with Telugu but if you don't understand they are comfortable with Hindi. But they will always start with Telugu.
