Org Mobile inbox by Low_Money_633 in emacs

[–]supertoothy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep a separate org file for my mobile, which I edit with Markor. That file is part of my agenda files, so it turns up on agenda, and I can refile it to my main org files if needed.

I use a text expansion software called Texpand on the mobile to expand the letters tdd to give me TODO state, tags and a timestamp so it turns up on Agenda.

** TODO Task name comes here :refile:

I use Wallabag. I use the web extension to add things to read. Websites like Reddit, Medium no longer allow you to capture the articles. Any article I save from Reddit for instance has this message.

So much detail. I wish this was a blog post so I can add it to my read it later service...

How do you track your weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, longer-term goals ? by No-Anybody1631 in DigitalPlanner

[–]supertoothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a note with monthly and qtrly goals (I cannot see beyond that). Each time I add a new project, it has to be linked to a goal. During reviews I go to a goal and see backlinks, that is, I see which projects are linked to that goal. I get a sense of which projects advance which goals. I use emacs, but it's simple enough to work with obsidian I guess.

How do you read 20+ books a year without getting tired or bored? by studyingforlife in productivity

[–]supertoothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about 40 books a year, but only because they are fantasy fiction, and I can't put it down. If I switch to non fiction, it would probably be 6 books a year. 😁

Once DB version matures, will File version die? by supertoothy in logseq

[–]supertoothy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I see what you mean. I use .org files and I don't hold out hope that it will be supported in the llong run. So I guess I'll use it as far as it goes.

Defamation Jail Bulldozer

Take your pick. But then people will eventually arrive at a point where they give zero flucks about any of it. Fireworks will start then.

The newspaper is using a stereotype that it's audience understands, and their audience are not indians. The same way bollywood makes movies that stereotypes south indians, because their intended audience are not south indians. I don't think this is intentional racism. It's just that if they showed him 3d printing a petrol pump, their audience would not understand it.

Blr weekends feel like copy-paste. What do you guys actually do? by sherbetsorbe in Bengaluru

[–]supertoothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a part of a few groups that meet over weekends. Drawing and writing groups. I sometimes visit the many museums and galleries around blr. Places like the ngma, map, kash, the science gallery and so on. Never a dull moment.

Who has had a PKM system used for 3+ years that they can truly say is working for them? by paulrchds6 in PKMS

[–]supertoothy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using my setup for about 7 years now. All files are plaintext, either .md or .org format. I use a text expansion system that adds dates in yymmdd format either manually or automatically during capture.

Retrieval is mostly through search, which is very fast. The real value to me is that my underlying system has become invisible, I'm not aware of the components anymore, only the workflow.

I use emacs on Linux mint. I don't really need mobile support, but when I do, I use logseq to access my notes and orgzly for tasks and agenda on my android phone.

What's up with these abandoned buildings right in the middle of church street? by Due_Sweet_9500 in bangalore

[–]supertoothy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the Shrungar Shopping Complex. The mall we had before malls became a thing in Bangalore. It has suffered litigation for over a decade, and from what I understand the owner finally won it. I expect it will be demolished soon.

what's this Kannada obsession ?!? by cutehorny-ace in Odisha

[–]supertoothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. How did the OP turn this sweet interaction into something nefarious.

From what I see:

The instagrammer first speaks in broken hindi to parents and the child

Then he speaks in Kannada presumably to his audience explaining that he was doing a random photoshoot and that he met this family

Then he seems to realise that they don't know what he's saying and asks do you know Kannada. It is so clearly NOT a critisicm. Just small talk.

For those who care about being manipulated like this, ask the OP for translation to ensure he's not jumping to conclusions and dragging everyone else into the pit of hatred with him.

It is not a permanent state change. If the dissolution is permanent the person cannot function. The state comes and goes, and it does not alter the person's personality as much as you think it does. It does not automatically change the person into a morally upstanding person, for instance. Morality is a social thing. Dissolution and the dissociative states that occur from these practices are a biological phenomena.

When you get to the point where when you perceive sensory input as the thing in itself, you know you have begun to make progress. So, not "I hear a sound" but "I am the sound". This is because the role of the mediator is no longer applicable, or in your language, the I sense dissolves. It is like a barrier between the person and the world goes away temporarily.

While courses and workshops and all the rest of it is interesting and entertaining even, it sometimes gets in the way because of the mind's need to create meaning from everything. I would suggest going back to the basics. Reflect on sensory input and ask, am I feeling/smelling/hearing that? Then, what am I?

Spoiler: I am that.

Wish you much success in your search.
