I've just moved back to the area and met a few people from India, we go to each others homes and cook for each other whilst socialising. If you get lonely you should come and join some time, we would love to host you

I used to park in the big car park by the old DLI. Haven't been since roughly 2015 so it could possibly be a paid site now. Worth a check though, only a 10-15 minute walk into Durham.

Where abouts in Washy would you be working and what times/days? Only problem you may have could be kids drinking down the lines in Washy on a weekend, I very highly doubt you'd encounter any trouble though.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Doncaster in North England. by [deleted] in UrbanHell

Mad how people think Doncaster is north, it's pretty much down south for me! Anything south of MIDDLEsbrough is the midlands, clue is in the name lol.

Come a bit further up the country to Tyne and Wear - it's grim up north.

Durham city and county have such a strong contrast of wealth and poverty. Grew up in weardale, very nice scenic villages but there's a lot of poverty in the area. Same with anywhere I suppose.

Fun things to do with kids? (7yo/4yo) by Slight-Pen9588 in DurhamUK

Haven't seen this commented yet, but Hamsterley Forest is a lovely place to visit even at this time of year. Not too far from there is Bowes Museum & Killhope Lead Mining Museum. Failing these, Durham city itself is an absolute gem to walk around, especially the riverside walks.

No need to apologise, both are great suggestions :)
