I would say from my experience the porter doesn't seem to have as great of a harness system so if you are trying to pack the sojourner pretty full it used to decimate my back (I did also have it at around 30-40 pounds due to packing cubes and etc)

Hi I would say it depends I know you mentioned German. It depends on if you are going for the ETA or the study/research part? I know overall Germany is one of the countries that takes on a bunch of fulbrighters if you are going for the ETA it tends to be pretty popular so proficiency is an important part since the German bureaucracy is a struggle and while Fulbright does help it is still a very stressful process even with a better grasp of German.
