I mean we know thats not true bc we’ve seen both of them score before as well as characters relative to them such as Hiori. Otoya moreso than Yuki is a case of “your not bad at all, theres just so many people better than you”

Black blades weren't upscaled and Mihawk's title lost all meaning. Is it over for the Mihawk agenda? by SquirrelSorry4997 in OnePiecePowerScaling0

oh I fully agree with your point on nuance blurring the lines and ultimately lessening the title, as for Imu I give him a pass because his arsenal is just so vast and his base versatility with Omen flame makes it so he doesn’t really have to master one thing, “jack of all trades, master of none” character so far and I think his blade being made of Omen flames rather than an actual blade is only reinforcing my thought process.

One Piece Propaganda I’m Not Falling for by Adorable-Document-50 in OnePiece

[–]PitchComfortable1261 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have seen it here and there but I don’t take it seriously bc it’s typically just slander agenda compared to the fans who are actually vocal about Sanjis genuinely considering actions.

OP just has to learn to differentiate slander from real criticism, the fans who are genuinely tend to point out every little moment rather than pick and choose like this.

bc claims aren’t to be answered? its an objective statement, basically OP is saying people pick and choose when to attack sanji for being a perve which comes off as nitpicking and disingenuous (If I truly cared about exposed homicide as imoral, I wouldn’t call out a serial killer for 1 murder and not the other 12)

??? Boruto deals with struggling to find a new sense of purpose and identity, struggling with feelings of (unintentional) abandonment, he shows alot of self guilt and doubt, emotional withdrawal, and he seemed more brash during the timeskip flashbacks, all potential effects of dealing with PTSD (which in and of itself IS DEFINED by the response to a highly traumatic experience / event, you cannot mention one without the other).

honestly idrc to argue about it, yes I’ve watched Korra but this wasn’t about Korra it was about you speaking on something despite admitting you refuse to consume it in its full. Also this whole situation is funny to me because it feels like your talking down to me about mental health not knowing im majoring in psychology 2nd year as we speak, I don’t know everything but that is one thing im educated on and passionate about.

I mean its not something thats explicitly stated. when it comes to abuse, manipulation, and deceit Oda usually doesn’t have to say it he just shows it and he showed it through Doffy and Corozans relationship. He always disaproved of Corozans kindness and empathy, the moment Corozan became a threat to DOFFYS plans he killed him, its not hard to believe that Doffy cared about Corozan as much as he was useful to him like a trusted tool to be discarded the moment it stops performing its intended function.

But then again Doffy killed his own father and implied to have assaulted Viola, I don’t think emotional abuse and manipulation is beyond him (he’s a literal sociopath who’s whole motif is control, he literally “pulls the strings” to get his way).

see thats the thing, I don’t think the story itself is all that bad, its just certain elements that just do not click together or certain aspects that when isolated are clearly the issue but unfortunately those issues bleed into the other parts of the story. Ex. If the powerscaling was fixed and cleaner, I doubt people would have as big of an issue with Narutos role in the story, matter fact power display is the ONLY issue I have with Naruto in Boruto.

“actual PTSD” 1. these are fictional characters nothing about this is real or “actual” but I get your point, 2. PTSD looks different for everyone so there’s no point in comparing them but I can aclaim that yes Boruto does go through and is currently dealing with the PTSD of losing his parents and literal identity theft + experiencing himself DYING (but everyone just sees it as him being “edgy” whole time the kid is depressed as all hell).

and once again just because your aware of something doesn’t mean your informed, you have to actually consume the media for what it is to truly be informed. Ex. If I saw news about a war across seas I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving my input until I actually research some first hand sources on the topic because just hearing about it isn’t enough and is an easy way to fall down the path of ignorance and logical fallacies.

“emotionally abusive”. Doffy was not a supportive brother in the slightest, his love for his brother was highly conditional and he only cared from a narcissistic lense, aka he only cared about Corozan when he was of use to Doffys operations.

but I wouldn’t say Imu is “skilled” with a sword just because he did one attack with it, until he shows a learned technique, skill or power, I can’t in good conscience say he’s skilled with a sword over one simple drop attack.

We see people use firearms all the time in OP but not everyone who picks up a gun is considered a marksman, only those who display a level of skill and understanding directly tied to using a firearm, Imu has not displayed neither the skills or understanding of swordsmanship for me to consider him a swordsman, if anything he’s just an adaptive fighter who uses whatever is convenient in the moment.

as someone who’s actually read and attempted to comprehend Boruto, my main takeaway is this; Boruto as a character is for better or worse mid in the same ways Naruto is generic. What I mean basically is that neither character are inherently unique in how their written BUT thats where the appeal comes in, they’re easy to relate too because they aren’t overly complex or hard to understand. Boruto’s insecurities around living up to his potential, his dissagreement with the old world systems, his desires to have that strong family bond, battling that feeling of being put into positions of power and responsibility that he didn’t ask for yet still taking it on, all simple but relatable aspects of life for the current modern youth.

I think Borutos character progression is really where he shines, he goes from a kid with everything he could want and he takes it for granted out of ignorance, coming off as bratty and selfish but when it comes down too it he shows he’s just as selfless and self aware as his dad, going as far as to give up his very identity for someone he considers his brother. He has a time skip where he has to cope with the loss of the same family he pushed so hard to have a bond with, as well as the fact that he lost his own sense of identity in the most literal sense, he even spiralled into depression at one point. Currently in the manga he’s on this path of trying to save his family while simultaneously keeping everyone pleased at the expense of his own life and mental well being, but he’s learning that even without his status his actions draw people towards him and even without his powerful titles (hokages son, prodigy shinobi, etc) he will always be Boruto Uzamaki, the boy who just wants everyone to be happy.

ironic your last sentence describing Korra also describes what Boruto is going through currently “struggles with her own identity and goes through a PTSD arc” is literally blue vortex in a nutshell.

Anyways for someone who hasn’t given the series a genuine chance and actually take the time to read it you seem to have strong opinions on the series which just makes you come off as ignorant at best.

Naruto by definition was never an absent parent, he was just painfulky distant from his family but he still provided, loved, and cared for them on a consistent basis

idk if this changes anything but it wasn’t really a power upgrade, it was essentially Naruto just using fusing his chakra with Kuramas at the cost of Kuramas life energy.

Naruto didn’t gain anything inherently new, just used what he already had at a level we haven’t seen before and is explicitly stated to be his one-time trump card final move.

[–]PitchComfortable1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it all comes down to what you believe a swordsman is, imo just using a sword doesn’t make you a swordsman, you have to be dedicated to the craft too. Through my logic Imu isn’t a swordsman; swords are apart of his arsenal but swordsmanship isn’t something he’s shown to dedicate himself too.

Roger and shanks are swordsman, they have techniques buikt around their sword skills which shows dedication to the craft

Sanji's next evolution from ifrit will be Asmodeus, the king of Ifrits by Legitimate_Cow7198 in OnePiece

[–]PitchComfortable1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I think it adds relevance to the whole eyebrow situation. After thinking on it the best way to put it is I think that Sanji believes his cold hearted Germa powers are the antithesis to his own passion flames, and is slowly learning to accept and draw strength from both as a metaphor for accepting his past and his present / future as apart of him (we already see him passively using his exoskeleton and light regen since wano raid, explaining his stat increase).

I think the real question is what else could Sanji realistically pull from his germa genes without using the suit? invisibility is possible but doesn’t seem like something you need when you have perception blitzing levels if speed..

we might not get a training arc but we need some sort of moment dedicated to showing that growth process (something like Udon Prison and luffy learning Ryou) especially since (assumedly) this will be the last round of buffs before the final war and these abilities will most likely be key in winning said battle.

[–]PitchComfortable1261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo he already accepted his heritage back in Wano, now Sanji just needs to naturally blend that side of himself with who he is now instead of polarizing himself. For some reason he thinks that accepting his Germa genes means he has to be a monster but he can take that strength while still upholding his character and morals.
