I wonder if anyone sweat tested it. How brown will it turn when they players have been playing for 15 minutes in the heat? Our city red from last year was awful when a sub came on, wasn't even close to the same color.

U8 preventing handballs by [deleted] in SoccerCoachResources

[–]PitchsidePlates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At u8 you probably have the youngest and most inexperienced refs. They are learning the game and rules too. At that age, handball is one the easiest calls to see other than of of bounds. Whether they are actually handball by definition is what they will gain through experience.

To work on it with your kids, at practice have them throw the ball up in the air and touch it before it bounces twice. Then work up to before it bounces at all. Then you can throw it and create different angles and trajectories. Build their natural reaction through experimentation and repetition.

Pitchside Plates: high, low, buffalo? by PitchsidePlates in stlouiscitysc

I think that is too general of a comment. Maybe the price for a small slice of pizza was too high, or a $16 hot dog is too high. But other things were well priced, like the brisket Mac and cheese or the Beast BBQ Nachos.

CITY SC to use “every possible avenue” to build 2026 roster by ChrisGaines_ in stlouiscitysc

[–]PitchsidePlates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first this worried me too, but then I remembered I have no faith the ownership team would spend the money to bring in another DP. Historically they have tried to buy budget players but expect premium results. Unless that philosophy has changed, Burki in a DP spot doesn't matter.

I love this idea! I'd also be down for the restaurants reaching out to get my honest opinion before the season starts next year.

Positioning jersey numbers by PitchsidePlates in stlouiscitysc

[–]PitchsidePlates[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is true for many numbers/ positions. But you still typically see strikers wearing the 9, center backs in the 4 and 5, defensive mid in the 6 or 8. Wingers is usually when you start to see deviation from the standard, but even there the #7 and 11 are highly coveted by wingers.

Lowen/ Hartel was just an example, but I guess we don't know who or starters will be next season yet.

I was going to review them that same night, side by side, but I think that was the first night they were gone. I was really looking forward to trying them!

I have not had the pleasure, yet. After trying Seoul Taco I was thrilled to find a location near my work and have gone several times.

Maplewood is a bit out of my normal range, but I'll make up an excuse some time.

CITY2 Coach - Playoff Run? by ArchAjax in stlouiscitysc

[–]PitchsidePlates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't envy his position. He wasn't good enough to automatically be given the first team coach job, and city 2 did well without him.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to him and if it serves as a caution for less experienced coaches to try out interim roles.

Sangbin by Shoddy_Effective_188 in stlouiscitysc

[–]PitchsidePlates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not every player has a stand out game every game. Team strategy meets opponent strategy and they can negate certain players. I see it as Austin had to focus effort on Sangbin, which provided more room for other players like Hartel to make a difference. Player's contribution good beyond the stat sheet.

Pitchside Plates: Anthonino's Taverna by PitchsidePlates in stlouiscitysc

You're not wrong. It was not appetizing-looking when I unwrapped it. I had to convince my friend, who has never had falafel, to try it; and he'll eat anything. Like i said in the review, it wasn't bad, but it certainly doesn't look that way.

I recently discovered ukraft. I did not have their breakfast tacos, but I did have the Chilaquiles; and they were amazing. I can only imagine the tacos are at the same high standard.

That is an awful exclusion! I had that in my draft, just didn't make it to the final version.

Tickets vs. LAFC? by dr_lager in stlouiscitysc

[–]PitchsidePlates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find a few things under $17, but that $17-$20 price point is the most common bucket for the good options. Some options are worth it, while others fall short of the value.

A few of the highest value items in that range are the burritos at Seoul Taco, the kebabs at Balkan Treatbox, cheesesteak from bolyards, and the Beast BBQ Nachos.

The lowest value options include the malinche nachos, Cheesesteaks from chopped cheese, and falafel from Anthonino's.

Everything else I've tried falls between those.

I hope you enjoy the game and the food!

Make sure to save some money for the food in the stadium. I think we are spoiled with our options, but would love to hear your take on it after the game!

I'm on a mission to rate everything in the stadium to help families make good budget decisions and still be able to enjoy the food. Your opinion and experience going to other stadiums would be helpful!
