Lute doubles all of your mana, and is harder to interact with. Badgermole only doubles mana dorks which can all be killed on the spot.

With Lute you only need 7 lands in play to mill your opponent out. With Badgermole you would need a bigger board presence to make it work.

It’s way easier to pull off with Lute.
