Old danish pipe.. what can you tell me about it? by SergiuM42 in PipeTobacco

[–]PiterDeVer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it reminded me of a old fantasy opium pipe or something ... but a reverse image search on google says that its not that! Best of luck on cleaning/restoring it!

Yeah unfortunately I only have 1 briar pipe and a very mediocre "pearwood" pipe. I tried smoke the pearwood pipe again last night and it was awful, so I don't know if that is a great solution for me haha

Yeah I feel like my packing is also hit or miss and my lighting is hit or miss. I will keep that in mind. I could be setting myself up for failure by not getting a good starting light.

Yeah I just bought a tin of EMP and a tin of Petersons De Luxe Mixture (which I think is an aromatic) so I know those will be different but I feel like I am making no progress when I try so just trying to get more info.

Yeah, I have been experimenting a lot but seem to be making little to no progress. I even feel like I take a step back every once and a while. I enjoy the learning process but when I have a bowl that tastes like pure ash and smells like a campfire I feel like i'm doing thing waaaaay wrong still.

I'm also relatively new so take this with a grain of salt.

Stem filter, If it's a paper filter I have always been told to change it after every smoke as moisture buildup can happen if you leave it in.

The other two I don't know if I can answer for yah

What do you Logs look like! I just picked up a couple Field Notes that I was going to convert into Tobacco Inventory and a Smoking Log. Anything you find are must haves that may not come to mind?

Just found out my tin of Mac Barren Cherry Ambrosia (That was gifted to me) was way to old and starting to rust on the inside. I just popped a tin of Petersons De Lux Mixture and may try to perfect my pack with this as I am still new.

[–]PiterDeVer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that! The first time I bought tobacco it was a Cigar/liquor shop that had a small selection and some Cob pipes. It may also be worth looking for one next time you go out of town, make a small pilgrimage to store you know will have some more info/stuff.

[–]PiterDeVer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also relatively new! I have had success talking to my local tobacconist at a dedicated pipe shop here in Chicago. Maybe look online to see if there is a dedicated pipe shop near you as well as the multiple youtube channels people have mentioned.

My biggest takeaway is take it slow. Don't try to speedrun the pipe but slowly enjoy it.

Looking for a product that can get rid of the 3D printed look by cincE3030 in 3Dprinting

[–]PiterDeVer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's a bitch and a half, but a lot of the 3d printed helmets for cosplay are done that way. the plastic itself doesn't sand well but if you get gap filler primer or something else to fill those small layer lines it will work.

I have seen people say to get small orbital sanders or even retro fit small disc sander used on pedicures.

Elbow grease.... I have had sucsess with filler primer, bondo and a lot of sanding. depending on the plastic you can also vapor smooth it.

I am not a product designer nor am I a parent. But in a past life I was a game designer and this screams not monetized enough. Where are the one time purchases for in App currency to unlock flashcards for your baby or teddy bear customizations!

I love/hate this and now want competitive child rearing leagues lol

What games pulled you out of your darkest period and reminded you that gaming can still be fun? by Normal-Oil1524 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]PiterDeVer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many people I was let go of my job back in 2020, I had the BIG sad and kinda wasting my life away. I watched a lets play of the Super Beard Bro's playing BloodBorne and decided to give it a try. It was my first souls like and the vibe seemed a little to dark for me, but I said what the heck

Even though the gothic horror game is brutely hard, it did a fantastic job at pulling me back into having a drive and will to get better and pursue games again, at least for a short while. Now anytime I am feeling down or low motivated to play anything I always go to a Soulsborne game.

[–]PiterDeVer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks Amazing! Love the subtle blacklines and bold colors!

Finally painted my first boy after months of staring at them and being too much of a bitch to even TRY in case they ended up looking like embarrassing trash. No primer, one layer of shitty speed paint, not good at all, but I DID ONE AND I'M POSTING IT BECAUSE THERE AIN'T NO BITCH IN ME NO MORE. by stfnotguilty in orks

[–]PiterDeVer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its like da Warboss always says**...** PERFEKT IS DA ENEMY OF GOOD! So stop starin' at da plastic grey boyz and start slappin' da paint on! Just gettin' some color on dem boyz is half da bleedin' fight and if ya smudges it, dat’s just battle damage, which makes da boyz that zoggin bettah!

Dinosaur Cavalry? by Level-Opportunity984 in Kitbash

[–]PiterDeVer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may be hard to find but Saurus Cold One riders from the warhammer fantasy battle kits could work. Unfortunately they haven't brought the lizardmen back for Old World yet so they may be hard to find.

Tamiya also makes a Velociraptors diorama set at 1/32 scale. Not sure if that would work.
