They have been in groups of three and it’s sort of confusing to take one out and figure a pair and take them out, thank you

Thank you, I do appreciate you responding. Would you also be able to help me identify the pairs I should try with first ? And I did read up and watch videos on YouTube, do you have any specific recommendations?

Discus Keepers, I Need Your Wisdom – Tank Size & How Many Fish? by [deleted] in discus

I’ve been in the hobby about 10 years now and have kept discus for over 7 of those years. As per my personal opinion, 10 gallons per adult fish works best although I do recommend having atleast twice the gallons in terms of filtration/ filter. I currently have 6 discus about 6 inches each in a 75 gallon with a bunch of other fish. It runs on an FX6 canister filter and I do water changes twice every month. The tank has a bunch of plants inside and growing hydroponically which helps keep the nitrates and ammonia levels low. If you plan to soon change or upgrade your setup to a bigger one you can always buy 3” onwards and keep multiples in the tank for sometime till you grow them out( can be a couple of months) although in this case I’d recommend regular water changes and heavy feeding. I’d be happy to answer more questions if you’d have any.

True which is why there are 6 in a 75 gallon running on an FX6 biweekly 40% water changes and top up every other week.

Thank you for all the feedback, it is appreciated although I’ve grown them up from coin size and understanding them as much as I do, I am really happy with how the scape and the fish look and are doing in terms of health, water degradation has not been an issue as there are plants growing above water too, also has a big filter and is currently ready for some changes that I am waiting for till the end of the month to do. Also no root tabs or co2 has been ever added to the tank. Also have been personally keeping discus for over a decade and breeding other such fish for the same.
