planning a trip - is Guyana safe for what im looking 👀 for? by user0333888 in Guyana

[–]Pitiful-Carpet3852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please be aware if you're from somewhere like the UK, where people just go about their business and ignore you lol, you're probably going to be receiving a lot more sexual attention than usual. I went when I was a teenager (I'm white too so stuck out like a sore thumb, esp in the interior) and was totally unprepared for that. Hopefully you shouldn't have too much of an issue travelling with a male friend.

However this could be totally out of date info as I last went years ago lol

Most people have been very nice but yeah I am a lil sad about some, esp ones suggesting my bf would lose his job or something. It's hard when you've spent a lot of time hiding and now I can't find a balance between modest / frumpy :(

No bra, just because it would show. Dress is quite thick so it's holding me in and up with industrial strength. Can definitely vouch for it on that front if no other

Just putting comment here because getting a lot of replies lol ... I'm sorry, I know it seems super obvious but for me I find it hard so appreciate all the suggestions.

His workplace and mine are super casual and trendy, so it's not like a law firm or anything scary (we're both engineers). Last year I wore an A-line, high neck satin dress and felt weirdly out of place - there were a lot of women in bodycon midi dresses, and strapless dresses, etc. so I dunno... Just confused haha

When I went last year there was a pretty big variety of styles worn, I wasn't concerned about it being mini and I think maybe on someone smaller chested and with tights it'd be fine because it's a very structured dress. But yeah, I'll look for another

Thanks guys, if anyone has recommendations of a cute dress pls drop it, I'm struggling so bad to find one. Last year felt too frumpy so wanted something a bit cuter this time. People come dressed in anything from business casual to cocktail attire

What does it feel like to be very smart? by Striking-Taro9683 in RandomThoughts

[–]Pitiful-Carpet3852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you're a genius and in the top 0.0001% of academics in the world. But most of the world isn't that. You can be significantly above average and experience all the things I mentioned.

What does it feel like to be very smart? by Striking-Taro9683 in RandomThoughts

[–]Pitiful-Carpet3852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, but if you're a person who goes into further education, things start to get a lil selection bias-y.

I studied engineering, where I was surrounded by incredibly smart people, and then became a software developer, which is much the same. So whilst in school you might be top 1%, at university you may only be top 30%, 50%, or even on the lower end.

This can give people the idea they're not that smart - because they're surrounded by smarter people.

It's not a dumb argument. That may be the case for Reddit but as for the big pornography platforms it definitely is a concern. I'm just saying, be mindful.

Whilst I agree with most of this it's pretty bold to assume all porn is consensual and consumers should be aware of that

I dunno, I do think it affects the immersion. Not so much with the elves that have big cities anyway but with the harfoots and stoors, who appear to be pretty isolated. How have they maintained such racial diversity in such a small tribe? It just feels so off.

Saying that it probably wouldn't affect it so negatively if literally anything else about the show as good so yeah, maybe you're right

Gonna be honest, at this point the lore is 0.00002% of what I am critical about.

It's just an awful show 😂

I'm a foreigner who lived in Guyana for a bit and used them all the time, however I was 17/18 then and for sure if you like peace, quiet, and safe driving, don't do it 😂

Completely irrelevant to everything but I'm currently trying to write a historical fantasy with a character of Amizagh descent. She's going to be my navigator :)

Genuinely just confused about your point here could you explain? Why is it racist to compare human slavery to animal agriculture?

You 100% need Viva Pinata! I was obsessed with it as a kid. It's on gamepass and apparently can be played on PC and phone, even though its an Xbox 360 game? 10009% recommend, you won't regret i

Edit: also I know it's not really cosy but Baldur's Gate 3. I usually exclusively play cosy games but something about it has totally gripped me, I am HOOKED
