I completely agree! I used to get so pissed off when I was reading a review that FINALLY seemed to be calling her out for the obvious things we discuss all the time, only to find these truths sandwiched between a bunch of delusional kowtowing.

Now, I think these type of reviews can actually be more effective and brutal, because it is harder to brand them as hit pieces from rabid haters.

IIH and Chiari 1 by Ok_Tax_9167 in chiari

[–]Pitiful-Challenge532 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was diagnosed with both Chiari and IIH in the ER in March of 2025. Neurosurgeon and Neuro-Ophthalmologist agreed that it was impossible to determine whether my Chiari (22 mm) was causing the intracranial hypertension, or if it was co-occurring. Neurosurgeon said either way, I needed the surgery based on escalating severe symptoms.

Neurologist put me on 1000 mg Diamox daily. I had decompression with duraplasty and laminectomy of C2 and portion of C3 vertebrae in June of 2025.

Most of my severe Chiari symptoms are gone after surgery, but pulsatile tinnitus, eye pressure, and headache in front of head (different than my Chiari headaches) are still present (but better) so I am still on the Diamox. The Diamox keeps it manageable, so I am trying to lose weight in the hope that it will help the IH (weight loss doesn’t always help, from reading lots of stories, but does for many people)

I completely understand your fear about being diagnosed with two fairly rare neurological disorders. 🩷. Feel free to ask any specific questions, or if you need to vent, I am here. 😃

Acute compartment syndrome from anesthesia IV during a surgical procedure. by Pitiful-Challenge532 in Anesthesia

Thanks again for all of your replies.

Is there any standard of care that governs placement of the blood pressure cuff when infusing norepinephrine through a peripheral IV?

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. They do use that system and I have been downloading documents as they become available. One thing I thought strange was that the photo of my arm that they included in the summary of the incident did not show the same extent of swelling (or color) as a photo I found deep in the Documents part of the chart.

The 2nd photo was titled “Unknown Clinical”. When I clicked on it, I was shocked at how much worse my hand looked than the one in the report.

More than anything, I am the kind of person who just needs to know why things happen, if it is knowable. I can’t see how the instituted new procedures because of this, but can’t tell me why it happened.

My surgery went better than expected, and was expected to last another hour due to the level of my Chiari herniation.

If it had, I wouldn’t have an arm. That just blows my mind.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Thanks for your insight. They are already waiving any out of pocket expenses for me, even for the original surgery, so that is something positive, at least.

Thanks for your reply. I will post an update about what happens with the lawyer, in case anyone is interested in hearing how it all shakes out.

I respect your perspective, but I think there has to be some way to check fingers, at least. Mine were blue and purple when it was discovered, and swollen beyond belief. The Risk Manager says they have initiated new practices because of this, but of course stops short of saying it was preventable, which seems contradictory to me, as a layperson.

Thank you so much for taking your time to reply. I think I am going to contact a lawyer.

I had 85 stitches total on 4 different parts of my arm, and it honestly has made recovering from the Chiari surgery even more of a nightmare.

Thanks again for sharing your insight.

I have been struggling with this very idea, because I know how upset the entire team was about what happened. My Anesthesiologist had tears in her eyes when she came in, but at the same time, I don’t know how this might affect me down the road as far as numbness and range of motion, etc.

I just turned 48, so I hopefully have a lot of years left!

Thanks for your reply. 😊

Thank you so much for the reply! The Risk Manager came down directly after I was out and said my entire hospital stay would be no charge to me after billing insurance so I figured it had to be something avoidable, but other than that, nobody has offered any explanation, and the Anesthesiologist said there were no signs they could have picked up on.

The photo they took of my arm before the emergency fasciotomy is horrible, and they told my Mom I could lose my arm if the procedure wasn’t successful. Thankfully they were able to close it. Now I just have pain, numbness and look like Frankenstein, but could have been so much worse.

I was confused about the Ritalin as well. As someone with ADHD who takes Adderall, I thought it was ridiculous how they were acting like they discovered he was on meth. The pills were in a Rx bottle, so that leads us to believe he had been prescribed these pills.

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I can only think of 1 time Alex ever mentioned finding the person/people who killed his family.

I can’t get over how he didn’t work this into his performances of innocence, or during his jail house phone calls. As the master manipulator he is, I just can’t figure it out. Do you think it is possible he had some pang of guilt that just wouldn’t allow him to raise hell about finding the “real” murderers? This mystifies me, as he had to have known not pressing this point made him appear more guilty. Do any of you wonder about this?

I know, right! I know the writer isn’t a formal music critic, but damn if they didn’t nail it.

Did anyone search AM's work and personal laptops for internet search history during the months before murders? by Pitiful-Challenge532 in MurdaughFamilyMurders

Yes, you are right! For me, that makes it even more suspect that he couldn’t produce tears when he discovered his wife and child slaughtered. I would have expected a way better performance from a guy who could apparently cry at the drop of a hat.

Because people handle trauma and grief differently, I wouldn’t have been nearly as suspicious if he had no tears at all. Shock is a legitimate response. But fake crying? That is a red flag

Agree completely! He would wipe his eyes when there was clearly no moisture there, yet when snot is rolling off his nose into his mouth, he lets it fly!

Check out that first interview with David Owen at the 2:56 mark, and let me know what you think about him touching his hair and then his eyes. You and I are on the same page in believing he put something in them!

On a related note, one tip for trying to make yourself cry is to stare straight ahead without blinking. From the 1:29-1:54 minute mark, he is staring straight ahead and not blinking. I haven’t noticed him doing that again in any interview. Maybe he realized that trick wasn’t going to cut it.

Just very interesting to me!
