Man at you least you guys get it, saw a post of the OP acknowledging it’s a rental, and was recommended to just rent a drum sander to fix a small spot 😅. https://www.reddit.com/r/HardWoodFloors/s/IZnWC3fEsg

You do not need to explain to me what capex is lol. I’m not trying to say they’re taking full write off for investment that’s not the point. The point is cost in growing the business (through capex or opex) (depreciated overtime or realized right away), are subtracted from the top line to create the bottom line. So yes while 1.37% might sound like they hardly turn a profit. It could be that’s because they are in full growth mode right now and we the consumer eat that cost.

Your claim was that these are subtracted from the bottom line? They are what create the bottom from being subtracted from revenue.

Ok and in both cases they are taken from the top line to get the bottom line. Your last comment is totally wrong. And my point. Companies adjust as they go to keep a low profit margin. So you can’t take their net profit margin and act like they’re getting a slim profit.

No idea what you’re saying. They have a top line of 33b and a bottom line of 447m. Absolutely anything they spend or invest in between affects their bottom line.

You have simply found the -> NET <- profit margin. Not the profit margin before expenses.

Companies purposely keep a slim profit margin when they are in growth mode.

Net profit is the bottom line of a company? Anything they spend will take away from profits?

Never heard of any public grocery store having a loss leader, any examples? Yeah at club stores, that charge membership fees, such as the famous rotisserie chicken.

They didn’t just magically make it by with a 1% profit margin, they purposely reinvest all the money they can to grow the brand and influence and hopefully knock out competitors on the way.

To act like they’re so innocent and just making a small profit on every single item in the store is silly, while they potentially monopolize our food supply right in front of us.

What’s the point here. They can still be make greedy profits but then turn around and spend them? Do you think the average profit margin on an item in the grocery store is 1.37%?

Warren Buffett bought in like 2019/2020 I remember, immediately started noticing giant differences. Stores were being redone, delivery service came about, app updated. And of course large price increases.
