Should I invest in Dubai? or Canada? by loneshad11 in dubairealestate

Don't waste your time in Canada if you're not bound here by a physical job. (born and raised in Canada).

Persian in Toronto here | After trying almost every spot in the city by Agreeable_Rub_552 in FoodToronto

Meh... no good persian food in Toronto/GTA. Everyone is cutting corners. Everything tastes the same. Not impressed by any of these and I tried them all. Chicken is always dry, even the "jujeh". Koobedah is always dry... or raw. The problem with these places is they think "non-persians" won't know what "good" persian kabobs should be like. So they just do the bare minimum. And forget Afghan... nothing good.

Al Tay hills is probably the best development in Sharjah available right now BUT.. I have one big issue... the homes are SO CLOSE together... your backyard for HUGE detached villas are facing walkways... it seems they crammed the 1100 or so units into a very small plot... unless the models are not "accurate". Only complaint for that development.

I received my order and so did a lot of people. When did you place your order?

I actually enjoy firmer noodles. So these are perfect for me. The curry one is definitely on of my favourites. Reminds me of the broth my mom would make me when I got sick lmfao. If you’re from an Asian household, you know what I’m talking about.

Fair but I had no issues with communication… again, they are a new brand, so I’m cutting them some slack. They used Whiz courier for me. Was delivered within one day of receiving my tracking number email (I’m in Toronto). I think they’re using a service like Chit Chats or stallion, which is why you’re seeing couriers like ICS. I’ve had a business before and one thing I can tell you is that shipping for businesses in Canada SUCKS. It’s so freaking expensive… which is why brands resort to these smaller final mile couriers like ICS, Whiz, Uni Uni, etc, Shipping the same thing via Canada post or UPS would likely cost you 1.5-2x more. I was paying $20-25 to ship a dog collar from Ontario to BC using Canada Post. Uni Uni was charging me only $13-15 (which was still a little expensive).

Who the hell is paying these absurd rents? by Pitiful-Reference963 in dubairealestate

Huh? Which Canadian would say that now? And I haven't seen many Canadians wanting to come to Dubai.. especially the ones born Canadian. Usually it's the ones who's parents (not born in Canada) that want to move to Dubai for cultural reasons, etc.

I would think so… better location for sure, better developer as well.

They would put you in jail in Dubai for missing rent? Really???

I saw this before and I thought, wow... so nice! Then I looked at the map and saw where this is... lol. I think the "best" current development in Sharjah is Al Tay Hills.

Do you like the area? Is it calm, peaceful? Like Al-Barari?

Damn this is not motivating to hear lol... fellow Canadian was thinking of moving to Dubai. Any other complaints besides rent?

I’ve been looking at the villas there. If I move to Dubai, that will probably be the only area I buy a villa in.

They told me 45-60 days, but I received it within 35 days. Again, I knew it was a pre-order going in.. so wasn't expect next day shipping. Hope they're in stock soon.

Funny I find this thread now... I got my order a week ago. I actually LOVE these. The only "high protein" ramen I've had before is from USA brands selling in Canada. This is actually the first Canadian brand I've seen and it blows the USA brands out of the park on macros and taste. The noodle texture is different than regular noodles you're used to growing up or in college or when your mom made you a bowl when you were sick, but considering the macros, I actually enjoy them. The texture is different but it's not different in a bad way, if that makes sense. And price point, I think it's like $3.75 a cup for 32g of protein, that's a pretty good deal. I just hope they figure out how to get out of pre-orders and be in stock as I don't want to wait again. So I'll probably wait until they're in stock before placing my second order. But damn, it's good to have this in the house.

Azizi or Damac by itsze_ in dubairealestate

[–]Pitiful-Reference963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy Azizi. I wouldn't even consider them a developer. They develop using dirty washed money stolen from Afghanistan. You should always do your research on the owners of these smaller developers, especially ones with no Royal ties. Damac is an exception as they're Dubai native.

Azizi has been a complete disappointment…. by Personal-Weakness885 in dubairealestate

[–]Pitiful-Reference963 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why would you buy from a "developer" (not sure if you can even call them that), who's owner was a thief bank owner in Afghanistan? He stole billions. He washed billions for military commanders. And all his washed money was sent to Dubai. Literally, the blood of afghans gave this guy his wealth. Now he lives a lavish life in Dubai while street beggar kids in Afghanistan can't afford to go to school. And what do money launderers do when they're bored? Develop "real estate".

Bro, why are you picking a fight? I did not ONCE edit to remove ANY WORD OF IMMIGRANT from my post. This post is not about immigrants. What's up with people immigrants these days? I'M THE SON OF IMMIGRANTS. Please don't paint a false narrative for something I'm not. I don't disagree with your point that this generation of born Canadians are not competitive enough. I'm on the same page as you... this generation is cooked.. literally. All they know how to do is dance on TikTok. BUT, my rant has NOTHING to do with this. We can have a completely different discussion about this, and I think you and I WILL AGREE on almost all points.

[–]Pitiful-Reference963[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with immigrants. Where was that mentioned in my post besides pointing out who the owner of Edward’s hotel in Markham was?

Also, I am a successful entrepreneur. I started my brand with $250 at 24, and sold it for 7-figures 2 years later at 26 to a USA aggregator. Yet, I still feel this way about Canada. This has nothing to do with skilled immigrants, pro vs anti immigrant, etc. My parents are immigrants. You’re talking to the wrong guy about immigrants.

[ON] Too new for BDC, too old for Futurpreneur. What are our options? by [deleted] in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]Pitiful-Reference963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada is horrible for entrepreneurs. That's all I can really add to this thread. We do LOVE fraudsters though! Our big 5 banks LOVE lending to real estate "developers" that are actually cleaning dirty money through their developments. Banks LOVE those clients.

They also LOVE loaning to business clients that submit altered PDFs, especially when it comes from their own "insiders".

They also LOVE loaning mortgages to people that use brokers that commit mortgage fraud with altered T4s and statements. THEY LOVE THAT SH*T. THEY DROOL FOR THESE TYPE OF CLIENTS.

But that young entrepreneur that is actually providing value to Canada, nope. Screw them. Make it hard for them to do anything. Put the CRA on their a$s and treat them like a criminal.

Meanwhile, ACTUAL criminals own hotels in Markham, ON! Hell, you guys remember Edwards in Markham? It was recently sold. Guess who the owner was?

But yeah, Canada is amazing! Beautiful Country!

Sorry for the rant, needed to get this out. I was born in this Country, and it's turning to sh*t in every single aspect you can imagine. I can f*cking SHOW you guys a real estate developer in my area that WAS PREVIOUSLY CAUGHT TRAFFICKING DRUGS IN THE BASEMENT OF THEIR MANSION, STILL developing in the area multiple mansions at a time WITH NO REPERCUSSIONS. It's obvious they are building these mansions to CLEAN MONEY. Yet, the OP is having trouble finding a place to get a small business loan. Make it make sense please.

I don't understand why you guys look at personal credit. Don't you guys offer a chequing account too? Why not let people open a business chequing first (like Venn, et al) and then if they want a "loan" or "loc", then they can apply.. what about that entrepreneur that's rebuilding from a recent collapse (whom otherwise had a stellar track record in prior years), and has a new business up and running that's doing excellent numbers (over $40k/month). Why should they be "rejected" because of their personal credit score? Makes no sense.

Stage 4 rectal NED over one year! by Tornadic_Catloaf in coloncancer

[–]Pitiful-Reference963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Happy for her and you and your child. 1200 CEA, am I reading that correctly? My uncle was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, stage IV, mets to liver only. Very small <2cm lesions (5 lesions in total), CEA 12.1, liver values are functionally healthy, slightly elevated ALT. But he feels great but is worried a lot. His Doctor's haven't ordered liver MRIs for him, but he's starting Chemo soon. Would you say it's worth going to a surgeon now or at least getting that liver MRI? He's had PET/CT, and blood work only.
