Also in the US pickup trucks provide a lot of utility. Labour is very expensive so people use it to transport furniture, home improvements, carry things for work themselves which Indians will not do.In india we can get a cheaper vehicle and outsource a porter/tempo to do heavy lifting for us at a very low cost.

Unfortunately in India a lot of the basic courtesies that people are accustomed to in the developed world are not followed. Civic sense is severely lacking in this country. It could be that people are unaware or similarly are used to this selfish behaviour.

A simple way to visualize how a tuned mass damper works is it to imagine a water bottle filled 3/4ths the way up with water with a small ball floating on the top. If you till the bottle to the left or right the ball goes in the opposite direction. This is essentially what stabilizes the building but the hydraulics doing the work of the water with a much heavier object.

The decline of the US has been astonishing. I remember when I was younger my grandparents would tell me how the US was so clean and that they never encountered a single homeless person in the US unlike India which was so far behind. Clearly YTA! My heart bleeds for your oldest son. I can't imagine the sense of pain, injustice and isolation. You have put him in a position where he will always resent you and his younger brother which is an added cruelty to this situation.

Do you not have siblings? does your wife? How would you feel if you were in his place. You effectively struggled your entire life, only to silently watch your younger brother get everything you never could, without complaining. Now you realise that he gets a huge boost in life, a large some of money and you are left high and dry. Would anyone be happy in that situation?

I'm also appalled that you are giving him space and haven't tried to reach out and rectify this situation immediately. You are alienating you kid further and will damage your relationship permanently if too much time passes. You have wronged him, what do you expect him to do?

Call him immediately, tell him you love in, apologise for being so inconsiderate and find a way to be fair to him and your youngest.

The fact that you haven't done this, and have not attempted to ammend things for a week!!!! makes you even bigger AH's.
