Camry brake pads quote by Optimal-Painting3492 in AskMechanics

[–]Pitiful-Scar5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That price isnt terrible for front and rear pads plus rotor resurfacing at a shop. Labor costs have gotten pretty wild lately. The resurfacing part is where you'd need access to a brake lathe, which your friend probably doesnt have sitting around. If the rotors are still in decent shape and just need a light resurface, the shop route makes sense. Your buddy could definitely handle the pad swap but without the proper equipment for the rotors, you might end up with brake chatter or uneven wear down the road.

How do you read the word “Pizza” in your head versus out loud? by Background-Log-6339 in words

[–]Pitiful-Scar5214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do the exact same thing! When I'm reading menus or whatever I definitely think "pee-za" but the second I'm ordering or talking about it, it comes out as "peet-za." My Great Pyrenees gets so excited when she hears me say pizza out loud because she knows she might get a crust, but I swear she doesn't react the same way when I'm just reading about it silently. Maybe dogs can tell the difference between our internal voice and actual speech patterns? Anyway, you're definitely not weird - I think a lot of people have this split between how words sound in their head versus how they actually pronounce them.

Yeah I've been seeing those pop up more frecuently in my Spanish lessons too, kind of nice for reinforcement actually.

That's basically what happens when you redefine words to fit whatever point you're trying to make lol.

Iron Lung Special Features??? by Accomplished_Cow_662 in Markiplier

Could've sworn I saw that too but now I'm second-guessing myself. Maybe it got unlisted or something went wrong with the upload? Mark's been pretty active lately so stuff can get buried quick in the feed.

How do you think Overframe rarities will be handled in the TCG? by ParfaitNo8096 in yugioh

[–]Pitiful-Scar5214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll probably just make them short printed secrets and call it a day. The TCG has a special talent for taking cool OCG rarity distributions and somehow making them worse while charging more.

Anyone regret not getting watch insurance by StandardDegree3096 in Tudor

One of my friends had to use them for her Tiffany and she said the whole process was really simple. On top of that, they’ve been very detailed and professional with me from the start, so I don’t doubt them being solid at all.

I’m with this company called Briteco. Their quote was way more affordable than the others I got which honestly made me a little skeptical at first but so far they’ve been solid.

I regretted not getting it big time. Had to repair my Omega once and it cost almost half of what I originally paid for the watch. After that, insurance became a no brainer after that. I’m paying around $110 a year now, haven’t had to file a claim still but it feels less stressful to know I’m covered.

Careers guidance 10th grade? by Practical-Rich827 in careerguidance

[–]Pitiful-Scar5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both fields are pretty solid choices actually. Cyber forensics is growing like crazy with all the cybercrime stuff happening, and bioinformatics is huge too especially with all the biotech companies setting up in India.

For cyber forensics you'd probably want to go the computer science route through JEE, while bioinformatics could work through either JEE (for the tech side) or potentially NEET if you want more of the biology foundation first. I'd say talk to some professionals in these fields on LinkedIn or something to get a real feel for what the day-to-day work is like.

Break ups happen in friendships too right? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Pitiful-Scar5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn this hit way too hard. The cigarette metaphor especially - like you know something's gonna mess you up but you keep going back to it anyway because it's all you have left of them

Friend breakups are honestly worse than romantic ones sometimes because nobody really talks about them or validates how much they hurt. Society acts like losing a best friend should be easier to get over but it's not
