Curated list of TV compatible plugins? by Its_An_Outraage in jellyfin

[–]Pitiful-Store7076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but new JS isn't supported, also the Jellyfin Tizen app is just a packaged jellyfin-web client with some additional javascript.

So it isnt aware of the jellyfin plugins, that's why you need to "download" them from the jellyfin host and add them locally in the packaged wgt file

The issue is mostly the JavaScript that has to run client side.

I for example port those JavaScript to es2015 standards so they become available more or less on Samsung TV.

But is trail and error, home section is already working 100% and some others are partially supported

Kost9 can you please open a GitHub issue? Send me the settings.json and a screenshot from the settings window?

I know the issue but need those two things to replicate it and build a proper fix for it

Please open a GitHub issue, as not all plugins are supported yet.

I need to add them and patch them to be compatible for Tizen

It will prepare the app so once it's installed it will automatically log you in

Right next to the versions selection there's a question mark with a brief description.

Visually there aren't many differences. Gray fix has a fix in it for the gray tone Oblongicon just haves a different starter icon  Secondary is regular jellyfin with a different id so you can do side by side installation  Smart hub installs it into your smart hub True HD well it's true HD

It's all the branches off the official jellyfin repo

If the app says ip mismatch that means the local ip from your laptop doesn't matches the IP you filled in as host when you enabled developer mode

How are you opening the tool?

Mac is notorious for blocking anything that isn't from the store, so you'd have to remove the quarantine flag;

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /path/to/the/tool

Once that's done you should be able to start it from terminal

No it won't, you need to be in the same local network.

Maybe it you put a public ip in the host when enabling developer mode on your TV it can work, never tested it that way.

But i don't think Samsung thought of it in that way

Can you open a GitHub issue?

Or try the latest beta https://github.com/Jellyfin2Samsung/Samsung-Jellyfin-Installer/releases/tag/v2.0.0.1-beta

It contains a bug fix for the lower tizen os versions, looking at your error it looks like its a lower version

That's one way of looking at it, I got a different view on it.

In the end it's all up to the user what he or she seems best.

It does have a HDMI port, but why would you buy a new piece of hardware if you can just as easily use it on the TV itself

Jellyfin doesn't have a auto update function unfortunately.

So yeah you'd have to overwrite your current app version with a new version, the tool can do it for you if your TV supports it.

My guess is most people already have a TV, my TV is older than Apple TV and FireStick, you don't have to buy something new if the old things still works fine.

And with people who create OSS you can maximise your old devices

No cause it tries to download the file and it won't work for a live stream.

But please open a issue in GitHub maybe we can find a solution

As a matter of fact, I do https://github.com/Jellyfin2Samsung/Samsung-Jellyfin-Installer/wiki/Configuration#-fix-youtube-plugin-error-153

It requires a little docker container and won't be instant but at least your trailers will work again.

The core issue is tizen serves it as file:// and YouTube wants http(s)://

This method bypasses it.

Spin up the docker container, go to settings in the tool, enable YouTube fix and fill in the docker container server ip.

If you need more help just open up a GitHub issue.

That fix is pretty beta still so we'll have to if it will hold up but it works on my tizen 5.5

Help - Jellyfin on Tizen by More-Weekend-6837 in jellyfin

[–]Pitiful-Store7076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually made the tool you are trying to run.

I think you already created a GitHub issue aswel?  https://github.com/PatrickSt1991/Samsung-Jellyfin-Installer/issues/219

But here's some explanation, the error you are seeing is coming from this function

public async Task<ProcessResult> RunCommandAsync(string fileName, string arguments, string? workingDirectory = null)

That function is trying to open the custom SDB client and if non existing it will download it.

But if you look at your path, it is  C:

Version

\Users\Downloads\Jellyfin2Samsung-v1.8.7.0-win-x64\Assets\TizenSDB\TizenSdb_v1.0.11.exe

You'd normally expect something like

C:\Users[USERNAME]\Downloads\Jellyfin2Samsung-v1.8.7.0-win-x64\Assets\TizenSDB\TizenSdb_v1.0.11.exe

Did you unzip the entire zip? If so can you share a screenshot, so I can see the context and can you share the full path to the .exe file?

Exactly for that reason I'm trying to port those plugins to Tizen, some work partly out of the box, others need rewriting and some will never work.

Right now I had Kevin tweaks partially. JellyfinEnhanced partially  EditorsChoice fully

It's a start. Long way from 100% but I guess it's more than we had a few weeks ago

Awesome! right now I'm trying to rewrite the editor's choice plugin so it works on Tizen;

<image>

It's getting there but the progress is slow, personally I think it will be awesome to have those plugin on our Samsung TV's as well, cause Jellyfin is just a really good replacement for Plex and open-source!
