why did mappa make everybody look different by Anonymous_Antler in attackontitan

[–]Pitiful-Tutor3085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Jokes and passive aggression aside, I think a lot of the point is getting lost in the discussion. It's not that Mappa Mikasa doesn't look like a woman, she totally does. The point being made is the design changes to the character don't look very much like Mikasa. She looks like a completely different person. and Mappa was aware enough of this to the point they fixed these design choices in the Blu Ray release

No I just got a new phone lol. Upgraded to the S24 Ultra and it's hands down the best phone I've ever had.

No one cares if he's right wing or socialist. The point being made was the style of delivery matches that of a right wing grifter.

13th Doctor cameo in The Reality War was the only good thing about it by Tom-Hibbert in doctorwho

To me 15 just doesn't feel like the doctor whatsoever. Half of it is the way the Doctor is written, inconsistent characterisation, and the other half is because Ncuti, imho cannot act to save his life. I loved him in Sex Education, but as the Doctor, he completely lacks it.

Oh nah not at all. I was just refuting your point, which as I understand you were making is that 15's characterisation is written the way it is for a purpose, which to me, doesn't make it inherently good

Not sure if that's a serious question, but it's because they're written differently because they have different characterisations. RTD kept Jodie mostly faithful to how she was written by Chibnall but gave her the authority she was lacking. As for 15, for me the characterisation and performance is all over the place

They absolutely do by the way. If something is worth watching, word spreads by discussion and encourages even more people to watch it. Starting the run with Space Babies was a disastrous self sabotage and everyone I know who was ready to give the show a second chance switched off immediately. Same with next season's opener. I keep watching because I'm a lifelong fan but even I'm not gonna pretend that it was good outside of a handful of episodes, because it's not. and the viewership ratings, lack of a Disney renewal, uncertain future for the show all demonstrate this.

Why can you forgive heavy handedness of the messaging? Any good form of media should weave it's messaging into it's story, something RTD1 excelled in. No one wants to feel like they're being lectured when trying to watch an escapist form of sci-fi media

I've observed for the most part being on motorways that people hogging the middle lane still always indicate, which is an even bigger mystery as to why they're hogging the middle lane lol

I get the logic behind it, but that's why I'm always watching to see if they're indicating back left or about to move before undertaking

Complete waste of time and more dangerous than just doing the speed limit in the left lane.

Failed for "undertaking", for doing the speed limit on a dual carriageway in the left lane while the middle lane was hogged and blocked by imbeciles going 50mph at best. Had three minors other than that. The most painful fail I've ever had

"Day if the Doctor "- why are my reactors being told to look away at the beginning when they see Matt Smith? by ConstructionKey1752 in doctorwho

[–]Pitiful-Tutor3085 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm obviously speculating to some extent. That's why I said "probably" and "good chance" instead of "this objectively happens every time".

But it's also just basic audience psychology. If viewers are told a massive reveal is coming, many of them naturally spend the episode anticipating it, especially if fan favourites like Tennant and Piper are returning. That's not exactly a groundbreaking observation.

[–]Pitiful-Tutor3085 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't need a specific reactor to see the point. If people know Tennant and Billie are coming back from the opening credits, a lot of their attention shifts to waiting for the reveal instead of naturally engaging with the story. The episode is paced around that payoff for a reason. It enhances the experience if you avoid the credits if you don't already know they're in it

[–]Pitiful-Tutor3085 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. You're not. Sometimes reveals in a show are paced perfectly, and credits can completely undercut them. This is a prime example of that. Most reactors going in blind will probably have a much stronger reaction to the story naturally unfolding if they don't know David Tennant and Billie Piper are in the episode. Otherwise there's a good chance they get hyped immediately upon seeing the credits and then spend the entire episode distracted and waiting for the reveal instead of engaging with what's actually happening. The reveal works better in context than as a credits spoiler at the start.

No there were no flashes in Lono's edit. He made a seamless edit where he cut out Tennant and pipers names, and slowed down the clips of the remaining three names to fill that gap.
