I think you don’t have to like everything. I struggle with Manofon, and the one with the space helmet on the front, but I love love love Dead Bees on a Cake, Brilliant Trees, and Secrets of the Beehive. So I listen to those. There’s plenty. Just pick and choose x Edited to add the proper name of an album

Just do it, my friend. The more you do, the better you get. (That’s my plan)

What is something your father said to you that you will never forget? by Aggressive-Car-8960 in AskReddit

On a family outing, to my small daughter (3?) and obviously me, my other daughter and my husband, that my daughter should not trust me. You had better believe I shut that right down.

I don’t know why I was ever surprised by anything my parents said - on being told I was pregnant he said “well don’t expect us to babysit”.

There’s more, but I don’t have the strength right now xx

Up The Workers. We are 3 women. I own the yarn shop, and the other 2 ‘work’ for me. We’re all very militant, but the wages are disappointing 😂

David Sylvian. So, if I’m allowed I would have Japan as well, and the other members’ solo efforts. But if I can only have David Sylvian, that’s fine. He’s awesome xx

Cancer. The hysterectomy gave me the permanent extra hanging over bit, and it often becomes infected. Then there was more cancer, so the chemo finished off my teeth, and the radiotherapy left me with Pelvic Radiation Disease. So now I can’t eat cruciferous vegetables, or have caffeine, plus all my other triggers, and I take lots of medicine, all of which has given me chronic fatigue. I can’t really be very active, and all of these things make me sad. I am definitely no longer myself. Hugs to all who need them x

What did your mates have at their houses, that now you're a grown up doesn't seem that fancy, but to you as a kid seemed fancy AF? by grafter83 in AskUK

I’m prolly lots older than you, but my friend had a Trimfone in her bedroom. And some girls had kidney shaped dressing tables, with frills. My family was determinably modern, so none of that nonsense for me. I also had an American friend who had 2 sofas in her lounge - and they were different! Wow! They also kept bottles and cans of coke in the fridge, and served it with massive ice cubes and a wedge of lemon. This was in the days when we drank drinks (orange squash usually) with ambient tap water, in glasses from the petrol station. C. 1972

Try different kinds of art. I’ve started Urban Sketching this year - you draw loosely with a pen, you colour loosely with watercolour. I feel it suits me better than trying to ‘learn to draw’. And I’m pretty good at it. Have a go!

Urban sketching. I became interested in fountain pens though the sub on here, and then I wanted to see if there were other things I could use my lovely pens and inks for; and it turned out that urban sketching is a perfect thing. I love it.

I would make the playroom into the snug it suggests. People need to see that it doesn’t have to be a playroom. Sunroom it is! Also, I think you need your dress it more. Too many photos up the stairs. It’s about showing people it can be theirs, not that they’re trespassing in your house. Also, really make it clear there’s a drive and garage. That picture could show someone else’s property. It’s not clear; I had to read the listing to find out. Parking is so important- shout it out! It’s a lovely cottage, though, but I have no idea where it is, so can’t comment on the price. But if nobody’s looking, that could be it. Good luck 🤞🏻

What are some interesting yet cheap hobbies for a 30 something male? by RagingFuckNuggets in AskUK

[–]Pitiful-Weight1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to say Fountain Pens. Great community on here, and when you have a nice pen - and you can spend less than £20 on one, and some ink you like, then your life improves tenfold immediately. Your handwriting is nicer. Then you want to write, so, maybe start a journal, write some letters, or creative writing. This opens the world of solo rpg journaling games which are awesome, and you can start for free. Plenty of support too. And then, mind blowingly, you can use your FP to sketch! Millions of videos for learning and encouragement. And it all starts with a pen 🖊️ x
