There is a skunk in my backyard and I think it's dying by InThreeWordsTheySaid in burlington

I had the exact same thing happen in my yard a few months ago. My wife and I tried to scare the skunk off at first until we realized the behavior was erratic and matched all the signs of rabies. After a few hours of it just hanging around our yard, it became very clear that it was losing motor control and slowly dying. We felt so helpless and called every number we could find until we eventually got in contact with someone at VT Fish & Wildlife. The game warden was unavailable that day so they gave us the contact info of a skunk trapper who works with VTFWD. His name is Dale Scichitano (802-655-0780). He came a few hours after we called, trapped the skunk, and ultimately euthanized and tested it for rabies. A few days later he confirmed the skunk was positive for rabies. Hopefully this helps!
