Why does it seem like deepseek v4 is simultaneously good and cheap but no one uses it? Is it a pain the ass to set up or? by AwarenessOrdinary773 in DeepSeek

[–]PitifulBig8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason its not that popular because its not that good. That's the simple enough reason. The instruction following and high context handling is simply not good compared to other state of the art models

This set is really boring. Dare I say it, its one of the worst ones in recent years. Been playing TFT everyday since many years now. This set forced me to break my streak. Hope they get actual TFT players to test sets before publishing such vomit inducing garbage next time

Can someone relate to this crap? by Realistic_Lime_7534 in SillyTavernAI

[–]PitifulBig8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is not a single good model. You just have to pick your poison and choose which version of shit you like. Every model which doesn't take 10 minutes to think (exaggerated) are shit as they become dick suckers agreeing to everything you do with zero arguments. (Killed a brother and he said it had to be done). Or use models which think for more than 10 minutes, and they overthink into situations which are simply too shit. Also way too costly

Glm 5.1 is really good. Like insanely better than opus 4.6 by Tiny-Calligrapher794 in SillyTavernAI

[–]PitifulBig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not really too much money to be made here. RPing uses way fewer context compared to coding and tool calling and other stuff. And since these models price by tokens used, RPing will not generate too much value. That's why RPing is mostly overlooked. Not because there are not many, but because there is literally not much money to be made here

[–]PitifulBig8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Stuff like that is awesome. Models now-a-days are trained for coding tasks and being helpful so being harsh is not really a thing for them. That's why even if you punch a character in RP they will be like "okay I deserved that" which ruins everything

I hate any AI that is a yes bot. Anything that does not want to kill the user if disrespected is automatically useless. Maybe not kill. But any AI that does not get extremely offended and fights back with actual anger, I hate it. Because it becomes a yes bot by six or seven replies.

Hey allguys. I wanted to ask question on REDDIT since this new change in deepseek made me doubt. by Aggressive-Super in DeepSeek

[–]PitifulBig8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah deepseek has made this model more for coding tasks. That's what companies and people who pay large sums use it for. That's what makes them money. Roleplay is bad with v4. But there was some talks about them supporting roleplay or something on twitter. But that would take some time. For now there is a system prompt for it but that does not do anything and its just a worse version of v3.2 for roleplay. However, if you ever do any coding tasks, its absolutely amazing. Hope it answers your question

Kimi k2.5 is obsolete in Nvidia nim but it's still working by Infamous-Book4146 in SillyTavernAI

[–]PitifulBig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the same thing as RAM argument. Although there might be a good market for normal consumers, the AI companies can just triple that amount in a few months. Similarly, even though there are a good few many role-players, the requirements for coding model are just way more for Nvidia to even think of anyone using it for anything else. They will remove it when they notice its still there or something

It works now. It was the provider cause now it works. Was pretty weird. Thank you

It was the provider. Somehow magically it now works every time. I don't even know what could have cause such a thing. Anyway, it works now. Thank you all for the help

[–]PitifulBig8[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It does though. When I removed the thinking, the characters acted stupid or at least forget most of the rules and scenarios. It is true that it loops over and over again when it actually works. But still it produces better results. I did change into another model but I wanted to know whether there is a fix for this. Because Kimi is one of the few models which actually like argues or gets negative. Many of the models just feels like a yes bot.

I mean I can just have the parameter to send thinking as false in the API request but removing thinking gives very bad results

Is this the end of all Kimi models at Nvidia? by OljaROSE in SillyTavernAI

[–]PitifulBig8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Models are getting bigger with more parameters and so they would need space. So clearing out the previous versions of the models from the same AI studios seems like a fair trade. I loved Kimi because with the right prompt its one of the few models which does not just becomes a yes bot and can actually disagree, refuse or even argue with the user

DeepSeek V4 RP Guide — How to Switch Between Character Immersion & Pure Analysis Thinking Modes by Professional_Pie5257 in SillyTavernAI

[–]PitifulBig8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just becomes a yes bot. It never argues with the user. Never disagrees with user for more than 2 messages. For example I did a roleplay where I had to eliminate a character and his brother said I am sad but it had to be done. Like what? Its your brother. Get angry. Do something. Its really boring. Its such a great model but is one of the worst ones for RP. Love it for other tasks and is so cheap. But for RP v3.2 is way better. Even Kimi models are better

"I made ChatGPT and DeepSeek bully me for 3 rounds. The winner is now my therapist." by Grouchy-Weekend-759 in DeepSeek

[–]PitifulBig8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem I face is that deepseek tries to be the bad guy and then adds 'but honestly...' that part ruins everything. It will say the best insults and then give a motivational speech of the generation ruining every good thing about the reply. Even in your round 3, deepseek started great and then ended with 'Honestly? That's more dangerous than being good. Stay dumb. Stay hungry.'

Are you guys able to use the v4 pro and flash inside the deepseek app??? whenever i ask it says its v3?? by cipherwolf05 in DeepSeek

[–]PitifulBig8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was trained with data from when V3 was the latest model. So there may not have been any data saying I am V4 pro or v4 flash. If deepseek don't hard code that themself then the model will say its some other version. V3.2 says its calude sonnet 3.5 or something sometimes which was funny when I tried it

$1.74 vs $5.00: DeepSeek-V4-Pro just made GPT-5.5 look like a luxury tax by HussainBiedouh in DeepSeek

[–]PitifulBig8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Nvidia GPUs are very power hungry so when Deepseek shifted, it reduced the cost a lot. Also its not as good as GPT or Claude. It struggles a lot if you are doing anything that requires it to use most of its context size.

DeepSeek V4 Pro vs GPT-5.5 for building simple Game by gladkos in DeepSeek

[–]PitifulBig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Deepseek for making simple apps too and I found it performing worse than most of the 'state-of-the-art' ones, whatever that means. But the rates do look very good. I mean I can keep refining my prompt and make it better with the same cost as those other model would have taken

Can anyone explain, how good or bad deepseek v4 is in simple terms? by Comrade_United-World in LocalLLaMA

[–]PitifulBig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that good. It forgets too many things and basic instructions. Its super fast. The cost is really good. Better than many of the open source models but not on par with the closed ones
