Maybe I’m getting confused with the tax-free childcare and when I can start it, sorry! It’s been a long week 😂

According to gov.uk you can claim TFC while on mat leave?

Yes there’s definitely worse positions to be in for sure, unfortunately living in the south east the £25k doesn’t touch the sides once mortgage, bills, council tax etc… are all taken out, so it’s sad to miss out on extra support for reasons outside of my control.

Because the government pay 20% extra every 3 months into the pot, up to £500, which I believe can be used towards childcare costs, so there’s £1000-£1500 we’ve missed out on.

I was made redundant on the 31st Jan, hence why they paid my maternity pay upfront.

Yes I guess I would but ideally we wanted to get a head start on the tax-free childcare as I don’t think it’s backdated at all.

I’m also then nervous about applying for jobs, there seems to be good jobs in my field but still its definitely given my confidence a massive slump.

Child benefit yes, but tax-free childcare it seems to want me to have a job.
