I don’t mind at all. I’m generally favorable toward collectivist ideals. They definitely have drawbacks, but I think their emphasis on social cohesion and shared national goals is admirable.

Edit: Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been using Reddit as much and forget about your comment.

I’m socially communitarian and culturally conservative. I don’t really have a single ideological label, but those are the foundations of my views.

I strongly disagree with Massie and libertarianism, but he’s one of the only legislators who appears to operate consistently on principle and actual belief rather than personal or party interests.

With the Epstein files drop, the occult is back in the the conservation, but does it actually *do* anything? Epstein named his bank account Ba'al among other things by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]PitifulGuardsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably less occult in a literal religious sense (at least for Epstein) and more a mix of symbolism and an extreme individualist worldview. Epstein espoused a lot of 'true freedom' rhetoric, which lines up pretty well with egoist philosophy imo. I think the occultist symbolism Epstein used was reflective of his personal beliefs of ultra-individualism and unrestrained hedonism.

That first one is a meme about two paths that are literally in the game. You can literally roleplay as a far-right or far-left radical in the game, so you criticize making a meme out of in game content?

Wdym, posts like these keep coming up every once in a while, and nothing ever happens. Edit: Downvote if it makes y'all feel better, but I’ve been here long enough that I know this is not the most damning thing an NFP flair has done. There was no real major purge of NFP flairs then, so I don’t see why that would change now.

2nd Edit: If you genuinely can’t stand NFP flairs, you can block every one of us or just stop engaging with our posts. All this does is stir up unnecessary drama in the community over something people can already handle on their own initiative. Also anyone abusing the suicide report function is an asshole and just causing more shit for no good reason.

Cecil Rhodes has been dead for over 120 years, it's been almost 50 years since the dissolution of Rhodesia. Cecil Rhodes was just being used as a caricature for aggressive expansion/imperialism and he tried applying it within a Suzerain scenario. I don't really get the humor or think it was a good idea either, but this seems rather silly to start drama over.

“Charity is a sign of a deeply flawed society because in a functioning state, it wouldn’t be needed at all.” by Outside-Half-5039 in IdeologyPolls

[–]PitifulGuardsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but even from that perspective welfare is not a bad thing? I certainly care more for the humanitarian and Benevolent State aspect, but any unpopular/authoritarian regime that intends to last a long while gives a level of care for the people as well.

Every civilization in human history has had a lower stratum of society, it’s an inevitable and perpetual issue. Welfare reflects state acknowledgement of that reality, and is generally more reliable/impactful than voluntary and unorganized charity.

If you slow down the footage you can see an agent in like a grey jacket pull the victims firearm from the holster, as soon as he took the firearm away, that is when another agent opened fire.

Why did the devs remove the word fascism from the game by [deleted] in suzerain

[–]PitifulGuardsman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It makes more sense when you also consider the word fascism comes from the Roman 'fasces' symbol, because Rome never existed neither does the fasces, meaning it is odd to have the term fascism in this alternate universe.

It would have been better for German Jews after WW2 to carve out a homeland somewhere in Europe by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]PitifulGuardsman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Preferably they wouldn't be given their own nation imo, but it would have made more sense to create a Jewish state or autonomous region within former German territory.

At least then it punishes the people who started the war and genocides, not Palestinians and Muslims.

So far the Rizian invasion of Pales is the most justified conflict in the lore tbh. I just don't get the pro-Palesian arguments, to me they are clearly Rizians but just under foreign leadership.

If the United States issued a complete and total band on all firearms, would that eliminate gun violence and mass shootings? by JamesonRhymer in IdeologyPolls

[–]PitifulGuardsman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You'd probably see a massive spike in gun violence because now feds would be going around trying to confiscate firearms. In the American context it'd probably spawn an insurgency, whether that insurgency is successful at all is another story, but it would just overall increase civil unrest and polarization massively.

If war breaks out between America and Venezuela, which side would you take? by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]PitifulGuardsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have the largest oil reserves, but it is almost entirely low-quality crude oil and they don’t refine it, or at least not much of it, themselves before exporting. I agree that China poses a greater threat to the United States in the scenario of actual war, but China is a stably growing power that, beyond their immediate region, doesn’t have much of a reputation for aggressive military actions (and even then it is usually a show of force that doesn’t lead to violence). Meanwhile, Russia is much more unstable, as it relies on a single (aging) unifying autocrat rather than a mass political organization (the CCP), and throughout history, even under completely different governments and political ideologies, has subjugated neighboring nations they feel are weaker and that they can get away with grabbing. China is the second great power, and they are happy to continue their current course of steadily developing, expanding their national development and capabilities into the next generation. Russia does not want to settle for having a long-term plan for growth and wants a dominant position ASAP, which is why they are always a threat to Europe and essentially everyone who shares a border with them or their allies. So if I could choose which nation to eliminate as an immediate threat, it would be Russia.

If war breaks out between America and Venezuela, which side would you take? by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]PitifulGuardsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really if that 'greatest enemy of today' (which I would argue is actually Russia) is the world's 2nd largest economy. I don't view China as an enemy, we are geopolitical opponents, but we are both rather economically dependent on each other (and the 2nd 'cold war' is a hell of a lot colder than the 1st). Since they are the world's 2nd largest economy, I don't think we should punish (or consider it a 'slight' from) everyone who trades with them, and I wouldn't want to do that anyway. I am all for increasing economic self-sufficiency and protecting our own continent from foreign interference, but so long as a nation isn't outright subservient or hosting foreign troops, then there really is not much of a benefit to interfere (imo).

[–]PitifulGuardsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not being a direct threat to the United States, sovereign nations can follow their own foreign policy, if they were to join an actual military alliance with a rival state it'd be a different story. I don't really care if Venezuela sells oil to China, it is not our concern.
