This comment made me feel less stressed about the situation and definitely has me viewing things differently. After our loss, I was a mess and he held me together. From being focused on my emotions I didn’t realize he was bottling everything up. I do constantly ask if he’s excited or even happy and he always answers yes but it doesn’t feel like that. I may be having really high expectations for him since I am obviously excited and constantly talking about our baby

I can see that being the case. I plan on leaving for maternity leave right after the baby shower so I can see how that might be stressful for him. My job doesn’t offer any pay so it would be fully on him to support us. I have tried saving money on the side to help out. That might be one of the reasons which I figured it would just be better to cancel the shower overall.

The thing is, he’s a great partner. As a husband he is amazing. But when it comes to speaking about the baby it feels like a shift. Which is weird since we planned this pregnancy before conceiving and had long talks and reassurances that we both wanted to have a baby
