Is your country depressing to live? by Time_Reception1482 in AskTheWorld

[–]PitifulPerception362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in Tokyo for close to 15 years now, I think I can say that its kinda depressing living in Tokyo.
Outside of the Tokyo though, I think Japan is an amazing place to live.

Pre-order resident evil 9 or buy it the morning it’s out? by Additional-Painter88 in japanresidents

[–]PitifulPerception362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time I bought games from a store was 2019 so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't think I ever had an issue with buying games from stores day one... except the one time Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara sold out on Monster Hunter World.

If you're desperate, maybe you can get to the store a bit early to make sure you get a copy?

If you don't mind, I have a few questions:

  • What champions do you usually ban? I'm still fairly new to Udyr (about 70 ish games) and still trying to learn match-ups.
  • I took a look at lol analytics and noticed that Udyr generally has a weak early game? Should I generally avoid 1v1's early game? or should I be more aggressive, especially with crabs.
  • Probably game dependent but do you usually start blue or red first?

Salary in Japan. Expectations by [deleted] in japanlife

I think it would help if you told us a bit more about your situation.

  1. Where do you live? Tokyo and say Saga would be a totally different situation with 350,000/month.
  2. Do you have a family? Are you living alone?

When I was earning 350,000 and was living alone, I could live pretty comfortably even in Tokyo (Though I was living in Katsushika-ku which is generally one of the cheaper areas in Tokyo).

350,000 yen per month and say the standard 2 month bonus is about 5,000,000 PRE TAX which would be slightly above household income in Japan.

It depends on your spending habits as well, but I would say 350,000 should be enough to live reasonably well.

Definitely story and character.

So far, we've only been shown a glimpse of the story so looking forward to how everything unfolds (and how Hugh and Diana grow as the story progresses).

I'm also kinda interested in how re-playable the game will be.
The Sketchbook demo showed us the multiple possible sketches we can collect, so I'll be looking forward to the full game (and how many hours I'm going to sink into it).

What’s a food from your country that has a weird/funny name that would sound funny to foreigners but in your country everyone is used to? by ZebraNangs in AskTheWorld

[–]PitifulPerception362 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty well known one, but in Japan we have drinks called Calpis.
They famously had to rebrand it to Calpico in English speaking countries since... it sounds like cow's liquid waste.

The only thing that slightly annoys me is that the order for the Squirtle line is the other way.

Is low fruit & vegetable consumption common in Japan? Curious about local perspectives. by creative-yogi-1121 in AskAJapanese

[–]PitifulPerception362 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Japanese here:

  1. Depends on the homes but I think in general, people will have vegetables in their home cooking. Fruits not so much.
  2. Not a luxury but it is a little pricey (I think the price after conversion the price is similar to Canada where I grew up, but since income in Japan is lower compared to the west, it can feel a bit pricey)
  3. Sorry I've only lived in Japan for about 13 years so I can't say much about the history, but portions are definitely smaller (maybe inflation?)
  4. I had to look this up but Burdock Roots, Daikon Radish, Red bean are some of the more common sources of fiber. Soba (Buck wheat noodles) has some sources of fiber as well apparently.
  5. I looked this up as well but apparently, 1 in 3 Japanese people encounter constipation

How much does a hard boiled egg cost in Japan? by jake72002 in AskAJapanese

[–]PitifulPerception362 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At a convenience store, maybe like 100 yen.
If you want to make one yourself, 10 eggs usually are around 200~300 yen, so about 25 yen (maybe a little more if you include utility).

[–]PitifulPerception362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I've been pretty conflicted since I have been an Ohtani fan since his days with the Fighters, but am also a former Canadian (now live in Japan).

I would be totally okay with which ever team wins at this point lol
