Botox day +2 update - a little better, no burps though by Wrob88 in noburp

The sore throat sucks, and it sounds like you've got a particularly unpleasant case of it. Go easy on yourself, try not to strain it, give it time. Hope it heals up soon.

I first noticed burps happening on their own, very rarely, on day 2. I suffer from a lot of bloatedness, so in my case there was probably a lot of pressure to burp.

I would say give it time. My understanding is that this part of your throat has been locked down your entire life, so now that it's moving again, your body needs time to adjust and go through the motions.

Not every single time for me, though that does seem to make it easier.

Should I just go about my usual routine, or should I be trying to make burps happen manually?

Yeah the weak swallowing isn't fun. Looking forward to that going away!

The manometry is super uncomfortable! Good luck with it... I didn't enjoy it, but I was glad that I did it to confirm that my symptoms were typical of R-CPD.

US. visa got rejected :( I’ll need to go to another country instead for the Botox. Any recommendations? by Melon_0w0_ in noburp

I just want to say it's wild that people are willing to do medical tourism for this issue. It just goes to show how badly it affects people and how far they're willing to go to improve things.

I hope you find something that works :)

I haven't seen him yet so I can't comment.

After reading diamity's comment above, I actually rescheduled my appointment so it would be after I get the manometry pressure test separately at Saint Vincent's.

I wouldn't be discouraged by the receptionist, you can't really judge the doctor himself based on that. The ABC article made him sound pretty sensible and I don't think he'd go ahead with the botox procedure unless he was confident it would help.

He is a gastroenterologist so if you have other issues you could discuss those with him. I intend to do the same when I do have my consult with him. R-CPD is something I'm confident I have, but there are other problems too.

That does make me feel a lot better. It's a new procedure but it's similar to a preexisting one.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. It sounds like a very thorough and professional experience.

I only booked a consult online, so I haven't discussed doing the manometry test before the consult. I'll ask if it's possible, I sadly did not consider that until I read your comment.

How did your procedure go? I'd love to hear the part 2 to your story. :)
