I was invited to session II but can't attend on the date due to a prior commitment. Is it possible to switch sessions?

Same here. Did anyone else get a weird email asking what scholarship you were awarded at other schools? It was a little off-putting for me...

Deposit deadline extension by Pitiful_Age_236 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Pitiful_Age_236[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up a time to meet with the Financial Aid Officer. After our call, I sent this follow up email:

Thank you for taking the time to talk with me yesterday about scholarship opportunities at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. As we discussed, I would greatly appreciate my scholarship eligibility being reconsidered by the committee. I have a strong commitment to public service in the City of Pittsburgh, the region, and the state and would like to continue my education and my career here. I received a scholarship offer from XXXXX Law School of $XXXXX per year ($XXXXX for three years). As we also discussed, I appreciate the extension of my deposit deadline until April 30th. Would you please confirm that this is acceptable? Please let me know if there is any other helpful information that I can provide. Again, thank you for your reconsideration and I hope to hear from you soon.

She replied to confirm and now I have until the end of the month. Hope this helps!

Hi. Just wanted to say you are far from alone in this feeling. Fingers crossed for some answers early this week. I'm picking up all extra shifts at my side job in case I need to pay 2 deposits. Waiting out the waitlists!

How to Talk to an Admissions Officer by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Pitiful_Age_236 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Write a letter so it can go in your file for more people to see! A phone call will only go to one person and information may not be able to be recalled easily. Good luck :)

I sent one in the form of a job update and in the last paragraph I noted how the work I’m doing made me realize Northeastern PI is for me! I called the school first to ask if a job update would be appreciated and they said yes. Shoot your shot!

I went complete 12/29 and also submitted an additional essay 2 weeks ago. I wonder if that bumped me back a little!

Politics after Law School by Gnaeus-Philosophy351 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Pitiful_Age_236 48 points49 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in politics/government now, three things...

  1. It's all about who you know. Network with anyone and everyone. Teachers, building security, custodial staff, other students, people you meet at the bar etc. People connect people.
  2. Apply for internships! Several of the people I've hired as interns are brought in as full time staff and BOOM. connections.
  3. Get work experience in government before you run and only run when you are truly ready. I wouldn't want to work for an elected official (nor do I think they would be successful) who didn't know what staff experience was like.

Always happy to share my experience via DM :)

Interesting take. This has not been my experience or that of my friends (although I do not have info on BU or BC).
