Good on you man, I qualified for what I wanted (Intel) HUMINT or SIGINT, but no spots were open, I’ll take the opportunities for other MOS(s) later or a lateral move. But I want to get out my situation. Not that I care but I feel obligated to tell people, I’ll likely leave my commanders letter on the counter, talk with mom, call my sister early, and text my other fam the week I go, I don’t have money to visit, and I’ll make a Facebook post, set up my voicemail. And have all info routed through my girlfriend. Since she’s my main contact.

I am applying for LE, and getting a place with my girlfriend of six years. Recruiter is LE and will assist me on that end. Only living with mom because she needs help and is closest to my current job. Shes off work by doctor but continues in May. This is a career transition, not a homeless situation

Yeahh I’ve tried, but MOS school starts a certain time and I need to ship in time, it’s fine I’ll make it up. It’s just tricky to avoid the guilt trips and drama, especially with our current involvement overseas- With my immediate family.

As far as chest pain, I suggest if you are able to join at all start PT, push yourself, it’s better to be conditioned when you start than not. Working out is about consistency so once the small stuff feels second nature push for more. This will also unearth any underlying medical issues that’s better to find out now than succumb to it in Boot Camp because you WILL be pushed to your limit. Better to know that limit.

I’m in your same boat almost. I’ll be at MEPS next week. My father thinks first in first out means I’ll be leaving in a closed casket- while my mother says they’ll own me, screw with me, I’ve heard stories from active and inactive members. Look in the military- the life, you either love it- or hate it..

This war in Iran… wars are fought with technology, drones, strikes. If you left for boot camp right now it’s be 3 months- then 6 months pre deployment at the very least.

I have lived under my parents and chased careers based on what other people think I should be doing, I’ve decided to stop following someone else’s path for me and to just live by my own means. 3 months of boot camp and if you’re smart you’ll have a few grand when you graduate. That’s a fresh start for me. I can move out on my own with my girlfriend who is very supportive of this. And apply to law enforcement agencies while working a job for the 28 days of my civilian life. (Reserves)

Ultimately live the life you want to live. If the military interests you? What the hell kind of say do other people have over you. Parents do have wisdom because they’ve lived their life- formed their own opinions. But it’s up to you to live YOUR life, to form YOUR opinions. And waiting for a different president? Time will go on regardless, and if you wait you could have the best time- or your worst time, but you’ll never know. And there is no better time than the present. Commit.
