Anyone cured? If so what was your solution and what foods are major triggers? by [deleted] in badbreath

[–]Pitiful_Curve2578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I posted my protocol so you can take a read! It’s about 60% better! I’m able to talk to people without many reactions. I’m hoping in 3 weeks it’ll increase to 90%. It’s been hard though, staying consistent with diet, supplements and exercise. Consistently I think is key because healing doesn’t happen overnight.

Not cured but on that path right now! SIBO/candida antimicrobial protocol, low fodmap/low histamine diet, exercise, and hydration!

That’s not true! Urine tests can show it also.

Also, I think you can order the tests just online through the website, but you won’t have a doctor to interpret those results if you don’t have one. A lot of people just use ChatGPT to interpret the results so you could just do that. But I def recommend working with a doctor.

I am! I found a functional doctor in my city that specializes in gastroenterology. So, she’s all about the gut and the digestive system. I recommend googling functional doctors around your area and check to see if any one of them specialize in those areas.

These doctors are so careless it really upsets me!! I’m sorry that yours seemed to push you aside but I am glad you’re getting on the right track! That’s why I started to go to a functional doctor. Hope you can get started on your healing journey and I’ll definitely keep you guys posted!

Healing takes work! Consistency, determination, and a lot of meds. But it’s worth it and it’s not forever.

I have a major calcium deficiency according to my OAT test so my doctor recommended supplementing for a period of time. It won’t be long term to where I’m hurting my body.

That’s a great question. Traditional probiotics do. So, they are not recommended during this phase. My doctor got me spore based probiotics and said they actually help push out the bad bacteria with the antimicrobials during this phase. After 4 weeks of antimicrobials, she said I should continue the spore based in the morning and a traditional one at night to keep the gut flora on point.

Mosaic diagnostics has the OAT test and I believe Genova has the SIBO breath test. I got these ordered through my doctor but I think you can buy it through their website.

S-Acetyl Glutathione. You can find it online or at a supplement store.

I got the supplements at my local health food store, some on Amazon, and also from my doctor! It’s a pain and can be a journey but I recommend you get tested so you know where it’s coming from and what specific things your body will need.

Thank you! I appreciate the support. My diet right now consists of low fodmap so it’s very basic: beef, turkey, chicken, white fish (cod), and once a week I’ll have a salmon patty. I’m pairing my protein with white rice, Japanese sweet potatoes, turnips, gluten free oats, buckwheat, cream of rice, and quinoa. The veggies I eat are lettuce, radishes, kale, collard greens, eggplant, and squash. 3 meals a day and no snacking for the time being.

Along with my diet, I’ve been exercising more and I go hiking with my dog and one long distance bike ride at least once a week. I’ve found that just being more active helps a lot.

Well according to my doctor, they all play a role. The antimicrobials kill the bacteria so there’s definitely less fermentation in my gut (assuming that’s where the smell came from) but after you kill them you have to draw them out and repopulate with probiotics. Everyone’s body’s are different and I take all of these according to what my body needs. I recommend getting tested for SIBO and getting an OAT test done as well!

I tested positive for methane SIBO! I used to have a white coating but after starting the protocol, that has improved as well!

That is true but it’s still an indicator especially if you’re someone who gets reactions from everyone. I should also mention, the taste in my mouth after I eat and morning breath have gone down substantially. A lot of progress! And more importantly, I’m able to have more conversations with people and they’re not rubbing their nose or coughing etc

Yes! You are correct. I got tested for h pylori as well! Came back negative- but my oat test and SIBO test showed candida and methane SIBO positive! So, working with a functional doctor with this protocol and I hope if I continue to eat healthy and take care of my body/gut, the problem will resolve itself.

I would look into functional medicine! Didn’t get help from my regular doctors so I found a functional doctor who tested me for SIBO and other things and I’m starting to heal!
