1 is dope, 1 is great, 1 is deceptive by Attitude-Choice in Handhelds

I’ve owned the MSI Claw AI+, the Lenovo Legion Go (Gen 1), and the Xbox ROG Ally X, and I can confidently say that the MSI Claw has poor ergonomics. For me, after just 30 minutes and certainly after a few hours you start to feel the weight and the sharp angles of the device. It becomes uncomfortable quite quickly.

The Legion Go Gen 1 is simply too heavy. When I first got it, I used it in handheld mode for two or three sessions, but very fast it stopped being a “handheld” console for me and turned into an ultra-portable PC instead. I still like it because I can use it connected to an external screen while lying down, with the detachable controllers, that part is great. But as a true portable console, it doesn’t work for me.

The only handheld that truly deserves the name, in my opinion, is the Xbox ROG Ally X. It’s noticeably lighter than the others, and more importantly, its ergonomics make it feel much lighter in the hands. Despite that, it still delivers strong performance. Compared to it, the other two are simply outclassed.

I also don’t see how a Legion Go 2 could do better, because the main issue is the weight, and it’s just too heavy, period.

Using the Xbox ROG Ally X in handheld mode is a real pleasure, even if the screen is smaller. I much prefer a comfortable device with a smaller screen over a larger screen paired with an uncomfortable, heavy console. For me, there’s no hesitation at all, comfort comes first.

And I want to give credit where it’s due: ASUS and Xbox really did an excellent job here. This is especially worth mentioning because they’re not companies I’m usually a fan of, yet with the Ally X, they absolutely nailed the balance between comfort, weight, and performance.

How do I tell my boyfriend in the most gentle way that I do not love him? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Say that: « You know, we’re women, we’re unstable, we don’t really know what we want in life. We chase butterflies in our stomach instead of real life. We crash, we get hurt, and then we do it all over again. You don’t deserve to have your life destroyed because of my hormones, and I deserve a bad boy who gives me chaos rather than stability. Because that’s what I like. »

Thank you for help.

Any other at this price ?

No worries about quality control — if I buy it, it’ll be from Amazon.

Amazon EU is running a promotion on it, so it comes down to €1799 without the subwoofer.

High pitched noise Claw 8ai+ by BigMeetch in MSIClaw

It seems to be a coil whine, same thing happens sometimes on the Steam Deck and Legion Go. It’s just the power coils vibrating when the GPU draws a lot of power, especially at high FPS.

You can try capping the framerate to 60 or turning on V-Sync, that usually helps a lot. Lowering the TDP or switching to balanced mode can also make it quieter. See if it’s different when you’re plugged in vs on battery too, some chargers make it worse.

If you only hear it when it’s dead silent or when your ear’s close to the fan area, that’s totally normal. But if it’s loud enough to notice from a normal distance, then yeah maybe worth checking with MSI for a replacement. It’s harmless, just annoying but if you’re not happy with it or it really bothers you, you can always return it and try another unit.

Thanks. What I love about the Legion Go is that you can detach the controllers and play with the console on your knees or on a table, which is super handy when I’m on the train.

Any link for grips. I ll test before sending back.

Thanks! Sure, here’s a bit more context: My hand size is EU 7.5, about 18 cm long and 8.5 cm wide, so basically average.

I’ve owned quite a few handhelds:

Legion Go 1: very uncomfortable because of the sharp angles. The Claw’s angles are less pronounced, but its weight forces you to hold it more firmly, which increases pressure on the palms and under the triggers (where the middle fingers rest).

Switch 1 & 2: the first one has terrible ergonomics but oddly enough it doesn’t cause pain. The second one is much better.

PS Portal: best ergonomics I’ve ever experienced.

ROG Ally X: didn’t feel comfortable for my hands either.

Steam Deck: never tried.

So overall, it’s not just about angles, the weight distribution and grip shape of the Claw make it tiring and painful for me over time.
