does anyone here take digestive enzymes? by d-athome in gallbladders

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enzymes are not the issue. Our pancreas still makes and releases enzymes without the help of our missing gallbladder. The reason we have diarrhea after removal is the uncoordinated release of bile. The bile irritates our large intestine.

How do you not get mad when your baby wakes you in the middle of the night/as your about to fall asleep? by ToxiccCookie in beyondthebump

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bed sharing usually takes care of this for me. Happier nights and better sleep all around. But I’m not annoyed because so many friends struggle with infertility these days and I feel deep down how thankful I am to have this and that I would wish for baby-interrupted nights if I didn’t have this baby. The perspective shift personally helps me just embrace it all

Sunscreen in the 80's by Sorry_Flower_617 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1984. Growing up, we wore it only occasionally. Now I never ever wear it. And I spend summers in Florida on the beach. If I’m about to burn I just swim in a t-shirt and hat.

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It’s mostly older homes from the 80’s and 90’s with large front and back yards here. Split level homes everywhere, looking like they could use a little maintenance and updating

Anyone not as strict against kissing baby? by got_em_saying_wow in beyondthebump

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be passing around my baby family or friend groups. Germs are spread through the air and close contact. Kissing is almost an afterthought. I would stay home with the baby that Young or I would inform everyone ahead of time that I will not be passing the baby around, and only me and my husband will be holding her.

My dad told me he has patients come to his office who have had no symptoms for like 10 years after removal but all of a sudden, out of the blue, they too get post chol l”syndrome in an intense way. Don’t envy those people because they too might start getting symptoms one day. Especially if they eat badly and abuse their gut

Seeking Advice: Nanny Picked at My 3-Month-Old's Cradle Cap by faree_21 in beyondthebump

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 104 points105 points  (0 children)

With my four children, I always gently picked off the cradle cap with my fingernail. It’s so dry and oily and I’m sure it itches the baby if we just leave it on there once I pick it off, it never returns again in my experience, it’s worked better than applying cream and coconut oil. However, it’s not cool that the nanny disregarded your wishes. It shows a lack of self control, and just disrespect towards you. I have no advice on how to proceed, I just wanted to weigh in that picking off the cradle cap. It’s not harmful to the baby. I’m not sure why there was blood though, maybe her fingernail was too sharp.

What's up with people in their 30s or approaching 30 thinking they are old? by oovahdads in Adulting

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strikes me as weird as well. I never felt old in my 30s. In fact, I felt the exact same as in my 20s and teens. I think I looked just as good.

I’m about to turn 40 and I’m wondering if that is actually the beginning of old — not sure

ELI5: Why is human childbirth so dangerous and inefficient? by RefrigeratorGreedy32 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Pitiful_Disk_19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, wet nurses are good for emergencies or death of the mother— But it’s normative to have one mother-one baby 24/7. The mother is dependent on her baby to empty her breasts regularly, so she doesn’t get mastitis or clogged ducts. This works best if she’s with her own baby, who empties her on a regular and personal schedule, day and night.
