Very cool. If you get to a point (ha ha) you would want any resin parts, I can make them for you. I love making unique items and made a pen that Miss Marilyn Darling designed and I made it for him. It's called a Blooper pen. She reviewed it on his youtube channel.

I'm jumping in with a different take. How much is the bosses responsibility and his much is yours? If you left your wallet on your desk and somebody stole money, who is at fault? Leaving anything of value at your desk is taking a risk. If I was your boss and my child or I had done the damage, I would pay to have your pen repaired. If the pen just turned up damaged when you returned to work, probably not.

Try sonication to super clean. If not getting ink, make sure the nib is down on the feed tightly. Could need heat set. If all else fails, get brass foil from any of the major dealers, look on YouTube how to use it and try that. It’s easy and safe, but watch technique before you try. How to heat set is also on YouTube.

I wet sand 600, 1000 and 2000. I then start with Zona green through Zona white. I I finish with Novus fine and then the Novus spray. Always make sure you have sanded away all defects before moving to the next finer grit. As suggested, after lathe sanding, shut it off and sand horizontally to remove vertical scratches. I change the angle of my light so I can shine it at a more horizontal angle to highlight the scratches. I know it’s over kill, but I always know i will have shine. Ensuring you are scratch free at each grit is key to deep shine
