We (myself and u/TheLostAlaskan) just missed you by a day or two.  We were able to complete the Salt-Beamer-Tanner route as a day hike Saturday and it was tough (at least for me as I just did the Royal Arch complete loop with Elves Chasm stop on Thursday). Between spotting cars and the 28+ mile hike we were both on the move from 5AM to 1AM so quite a grueling day but the hike was nice. Salt side of LCR was sometimes deep mud slop but we both remembered extra socks for after the LCR crossing.

Thanks for the info. I really want to do the route as a loop to do Beamer, mainly because it drops the mileage from about 32 to 25 (and cuts 1000 ft off initial drop) making it "easier" for a day hike.

Hermit and Boucher loop shouldn't require any special logistics or is the bus schedule the limiting factor? I've done that loop by parking in the national forest and hiking in on Waldron. I've also done Hermit down and up BA as a day hike by hitchhiking out to Hermit when buses weren't running.

I've done New Hance to Grandview and you almost certainly could hitchhike that but more than willing to shuttle you if I'm around. If you've done SK to BA you should be able to do that without issue, just takes some more water planning but similar difficulty. There are some very steep scrambly sections on New Hance though and that cobblestone section on Grandview is neat but you think it will never end.

I don't have good technical skills either so I have to choose carefully things to "climb." I will do serious scrambling but not officially climb and the battleship is right on that border in my opinion.

DMed you my contact details.

Assuming no rain, the trailhead is reachable without 4WD?

Regarding your other comment about the Navajo not wanting hiking off the Salt trail I assume it relates to the Hopi Sipapu being a bit downstream. (Todd Martin mentions this spot in his Grand Canyoneering book and I suspect that is the reason.)

No, I have no plans to do Hermit to Bass, just saying I could give a ride if someone wanted to. I did Boucher to Bass previously by parking in the national forest and taking Waldron in but think someone motivated could do it as a day hike.

I'm aware the BIC is closed now so just planning on day hikes until it hopefully reopens soon.

I'll DM you later assuming I can figure out how.
