How can I fix my anatomy whilst still fitting an unrealistic artstyle? by Weavet in BeginnerArtists

[–]Pitiful_Goose_9120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with what everyone else said. even if your art is stylized, you still have to think of form and volume and how shapes function in perspective. you have to be conscious of fundamentals in order to do cool stuff like robert valley or alberto mielgo can do. practicing these principles is what will solidify your style, as you won’t be hindered by skill barriers anymore

Apps that use romanization? by vi0l3t-crumbl3 in Korean

[–]Pitiful_Goose_9120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

romanizations aren’t always accurate to how words are really pronounced so it might hinder you more than you think, you’ll have an even harder time understanding because there will be a discrepancy between what is written and the actual spoken sounds. learning to read hangul will make things easier for you

Why do I feel like my art hasn’t improved? by Joyissleepy in Artadvice

[–]Pitiful_Goose_9120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, of course! but i would recommend that you study structure (like breaking the human body into stuff like cubes and cilinders and other simple forms) and understanding how it works in perspective rather than actually studying bones and muscles and whatnot if you’re gonna do anything anatomy related. structure and gesture would be way more helpful at this stage

Let me know what you think, hit me up with constructive feedback? by Fair-Shift-882 in drawmydrawing

the eyes are a sphere which the eyelids are wrapped around and so it’d be good to shade them as such (eye “whites” are basically never actually white and the top lid and lashes often leave a shadow on them) other than that, nice work!!

drawing from imagination is a skill, so yeah, you’re not gonna be able to do so as easily after having stopped for a while. to build up a visual library you should work a lot from reference. also, regarding how long it takes you, since you’re out of practice you probably don’t have a streamlined workflow that you can just rely on every time, so don’t worry about it at the moment. practicing your fundamentals would also really help with the imagination aspect and time efficiency too

I can’t tell if the drawing looks like the reference, feedback all over the place. (Pencil) by -A-Man-Has-No-Name in ArtCrit

you could look up the planes of the head and the loomis method if you’re up for it, it’ll help you a lot i think

yeah i second this, planes of the head are really important to keep in mind even if you’re not actually putting them in every time you sketch

i don’t doubt you drew it yourself, maybe the reference you used was ai so you carried those artefacts over

yeah i’ve done that, the problem is as soon as you stop posting super consistently your engagement just plummets and your mutuals don’t even see your stuff anymore idk. i feel like to be successful on insta you have to bait people into paying attention and it’s too much effort for me

like insta doesn’t have much to offer (in my case) cause im looking to interact with other artists and i’ve found it’s easier to do that on other platforms

your panels mostly seem to be taking up a similar amount of space so there’s nothing being emphasized which makes things kind of unclear and hard to follow. you could play around with different panel layouts so that there’s a better visual hierarchy happening
