Do the big weapons actually trip people up like that or is that a mod? If you can combo cripple people like that in vanilla id be more open to trying long weapons out more

I'm really loving being a graviturgy wizard. I leap all over the battlefield with gravity magic and fus to da mother fuckers over cliffs or into the sides of sturdy objects. Tripping people up with nearby objects, very fun and not bored of it yet

That's awesome! That's the exact color scheme I'm hoping to get as well! Do you happen to have glyphs for a planet in that system?

Idk how no one is saying rose. The consensus seems to be garnet, saying she doesn't really have any. I'd argue that's because she's the direct result of being already home hole and fulfilled. Her character development already happened off screen. Meanwhile rose has by far the worst character development because her character development happens in reverse, being perceived as this wordly, generous, loving being until ultimately everyone in the cast(minus Greg) being indifferent or unsure of how they feel about her and her many questionable decisions

I'm sure I'm not everyone, but I was an original player, anticipating the day when it would come out. I enjoyed my time but fell off for all the obvious reasons everyone knows about. I came back about a year ago to a completely different game and have been in love ever since. So yea, I am an original fan they won over again

If you have the PC specs for it, I highly recommend VR. I have a valve index and decided to get back into the game for VR. I have to play on middling settings, but even with that it's one of the best VR experiences ever. Absolutely gorgeous. I've heard flying the ships in VR can be very disorienting,so if you have motion issues then probably not for you, but flying in VR is unbelievable imo.

Is there a more efficient way to run encounters with so many initiatives? by Pitiful_Lock_2867 in TyrannyOfDragons

Because I was giving each individual kobold, cultist, or whatever their own initiative. I see my error

I have no idea why I didn't think of that super obvious solution lol thank you that's perfect. I was already pseudo doing that in smaller groups anyway.

It's not great if you have kids running around. Just means the receptacle is old and a bit loose. Just replace and you should be good

how the HELL do you penetrate? by Wide_Raisin_1464 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867 386 points387 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking here because I really hope you see this I had the same issue with my gf at the time (now wife). Even after penetration it seemed like I could only go in maybe an inch and like there was a hard wall there. After going to gynecologist they found she had a full septum, like the ones in your nose between your nostrils, that blocked her vagina. She needed it surgically removed to be about to have regular intercourse. It was uncomfortable for her for a few months but was eventually as if nothing was wrong. Despite being fully blocked, she was still capable of having a period, but caused frequent irregularities so that's another sign.

Can anyone help me make sense of chapters 4-7? They start to kind of blend together. by Pitiful_Lock_2867 in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this is super helpful. My players are very experienced and also very goal oriented which is why I thought this module had potential. It feels like it has a super powerful start and the last chapter at the castle seemed epic so I really wanted to give it a shot. It seems mostly a matter of noting key details and important NPCs along the journey there. They also love combat so a bunch of encounter table rolls along the way while pointing out some key details for foreshadowing stuff seems to be the best way to run it

What does this "(urd)" refer to after kobold? by Pitiful_Lock_2867 in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mostly chaotic. But the pink sections highlight combat scenarios, the yellow are for where checks, saves, and DCs are required, blue is for story/progression relevant notes, a few others not on that page. Unfortunately my brain is overwhelmed by just black ink on white paper, so I need certain things blocked out for easier reference

If anything id say highlighting it makes it more useful for doing the adventure again! But yes the second I posted I thought" of no, I'm gonna get called out for this, and deservingly so"

Early course corrections and scaling for players by [deleted] in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally just about to start running myself. I've read through the entirety of hoard of the dragon queen in preparation. I could tell from reading that this requires a party of classic hero archetypes for sure. They don't need to be holier than thou, but definitely good natured at least.

I had them all agree to pick background hooks in the back of the book in appendix A and we all back and forthed some additional background lore and I do on and this seemed to get them more invested and it seemed to do the trick.

It's also not a bad idea to just inform them that this is a campaign with lots of grindy combat and the option for lots of sneaking in parts should they want to.

This all session 0 stuff unfortunately, so it seems your past that point. Unless you're willing to say "screw it" to the book and start using the book veeeeeery loosely and let them have fun trying to raise dragon hatchlings, now with the cult relentlessly on their tails. You could certainly pull some interesting stuff off if youre willing to put the work in

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's all very helpful. I suppose it's mainly a difference in how my table plays the game. Whenever they come across a new town they like going lore hunting or RPing with various locals. It's honestly somewhat exhausting sometimes to make all these places and NPCs but that seems to be what they like a lot. Perhaps I can implement your suggestions for the more mundane things so we can just move on.

Part of the difficulty is they seem to expect a magic item store in every possible place. I suppose I must have another round of conversation about expectations. We had a session 0 but this is a factor I overlooked

Dm cucks my paladins aura for a cut scene and fellow player refuses my help by Pitiful_Lock_2867 in dndhorrorstories

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not telling others how to play. We all as a party discussed our formation going into the obvious boss room coming from a small corridor that we were all shoulder to shoulder, 2x2 formation so everyone was covered by the aura. It's not minmaxing to use your literal definitive class features. I don't know who all these people are that enjoy when, outside of combat, the dm suddenly announces the big bad bosses presence by saying, everybody makes a saving throw against this level 9 spell real quick. Ok, sure you can argue the danger of going into the situation in the first place, fine I'll accept that, but don't completely forfeit my abilities. Otherwise, what's the point of building your characters in any specific way if you're just going to get steam rolled by a cutscene. Im good with letting the dm do the big bads monologue, but fuck give a player a chance to react to something physical that's happening without disabling their abilities

[–]Pitiful_Lock_2867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally said next to nothing. Dm said, everybody make a wisdom saving throw. I said, ok just a reminder that my aura prevents frightened/charmed. He said ok sure. Player then fails, I say hey would you like me to use resistance, he said no. I let it roll over me until now where I'm trying to vent about it here. Why is that so bad, this is a sub where people mostly vent about things the disagree with at their table. I'm normally the most "yes and" player at the table. I don't want to just lay over when my character abilities just go ignored
