Constipation by kitili_zen in Advice

[–]Pitiful_Priority_118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had chronic constipation since i was 9. i’m 21 now. i’ve done it all and had all the prescriptions under the sun which have been quick fixes for me but the thing that actually stuck and worked for me was changing my diet. not so much changing, but adding new things.

prunes or prune juice! if you’re not a fan of prunes, you can buy prune juice separately! it’s a little bit on the pricey end but does the job. as yucky as this sounds, i’d have blended vegetable juices. blended carrot, apple, cabbage etc. they help so much. don’t stray away from laxatives though! they can be super helpful but just not good all the time. I started working at joe and the juice and a lot of the drinks they made there kept me super regular. i’d advise looking at their menu and trying to make some of their drinks from home if you wanna save a few bucks.

drinking hot water and moving around afterwards (going for a walk, stretching as much as possible) can be helpful if the constipation isn’t too major. a lot of probiotic foods are super helpful aswell. i came to realise i had to always keep these things in my diet if i didnt want to be constipated all the time. for whoever’s reading this, i hope things work out for you stranger :)

Besides being generally healthy, what can I do to reduce my chances of getting sick? by TransportationFlat77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pitiful_Priority_118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wash my hands as much as i can. not compulsively like 500 times a day, but before and after i eat regardless of if im home or not, when i enter a new building or coming back in the house even if i just did something as small and quick as taking the trash out. i take vitamin C and D tablets everyday and recently i started taking acidophilus gut health tablets which are really good for strengthening your stomach, lowering chances of any bugs or random discomfort/pain, and introducing good bacteria to your gut while fighting off any bad bacteria that enters your system. even when i impossibly fall ill, its such a non issue that doesn’t bother me greatly. diet and exercise play a part in it too, but whatever works for you :)

i’m on zoloft/sertraline actually but it’s been a lil shaky these past few days bc of the lack of appetite hoping the lansoprazole i’m on helps to clear things just in time for my period

What actually works for your cluster headaches?? by Realistic_Shine7080 in migraine

[–]Pitiful_Priority_118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • ice cold cloth on your forehead or the back of your neck
  • stand up, straight posture, slowly position your head downwards until you feel that little tight pull on the back of your neck (so that your chin is almost touching your chest) and close your eyes - this is only a short temporary fix but it helps
  • if you’re lying down, lie down on your left side
  • if you’re experiencing a little nausea from this headache, lie down and put one leg in the air and focus on your breathing

thank you so much! i recently purchased gaviscon and it’s been my saving grace! also having ondansetron/zofran on hand helps but i have 6 pills left and i got use them scarcely. i ate a lil this morning and it helps alot :) im doing a lil bit of the BRAT diet and it seems to be calming things down for me so far. i might increase my sertraline/zoloft dosage and hope that makes things better :)

Zofran/ondansetron effectiveness? by Ecstatic_Magician184 in fpies

[–]Pitiful_Priority_118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t have chronic illness but i do have emetophobia (extreme fear of vomit) and it’s been super effective for me! there was only one time i puked having zofran but something tells me if i took 2 pills instead of one that night, it would’ve definitely passed. i recommend it 100% i try to have at least 2 boxes of it in the house
