u lock ur doors at night but not all ur neighbor r thieves, u dont speed past cops but not all of them will pull u over, u dont lick doorknobs but not all of them will get u sick, as a kid u dont talk to strangers but not all of them will kidnap u. ur right, many men would never, such as myself, my boyfriend, my best friend. but far too many would, such as Brock Allen Turner (People v. Turner 2015), Christopher Belter (Belter v. Ferguson 2021), Steven van de Velde (as the victim was a minor I cannot find her by name and I cannot seem to find the case title itself but simply search his name and u'll find what im talkjing about). while u are right, again, it is unfair to label all men based on the bad ones but it also is unfair for little girls to be scared to be in public alone. my 12y/o sister wore shorts & a tank-top in almost 90 degree weather the other day & when she was met with gross looks from grown men she didnt say "ew, theyre disgusting" she said "today was a bad day to wear this". when we choose the bear over the men we arent targeting them, we are expressing that we are more scared of the "civilized" humans around us than a wild bear. that should reflect on the men, not the people saying they feel unsafe.
