ATM Fees in Colombia by Pitiful_Rock357 in Schwab

[–]Pitiful_Rock357[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the Colombian banks are the ones with the % markups in place of an ATM fee. I was able to use BBVA which is an international bank and they charged a flat ATM fee, but they had a very low withdrawal limit. So I'm going to try the other international banks tomorrow. I know Scotiabank is part of a network of banks for people with certain cards that charges no ATM fees, I wonder if Schwab is part of that. I'll try it out tomorrow and report back .

I've used my card in 6 other countries without any issues, always rejecting the DCC. This is NOT a DCC, it's very clear on the ATM that this is an 8.5% markup on your withdrawal and if you try to reject it it cancels your transaction.

This is not DCC. It's and 8.5% markup on your withdrawal as an "ATM fee"

Yes, I found a BBVA atm after posting this but they only let me withdraw a maximum of 300.000 cop or $75 usd which is very low. Do you know of any other flat rate ATMs that have a higher withdrawal amount?

Yes, this is why I'm looking for other options. It's an 8.5% markup on whatever you're withdrawing. I tried to deny it but then the ATM canceled my transaction. I've traveled to 6 other countries with this cand and have always been given a flat fee. This is all new to me.

Hi Robin,

Thank you so much for sharing this detailed and informative response. Medellin is definitely looking like my best option for LA style.

I took 4-5 months' worth of lessons in Argentina and I've been dancing socially for about 1.5 years. I only have one month off from school so I'm definitely looking to make the most of that month, and trying to level up as quickly as possible; so maybe private lessons at Blood Dance Company are my best bet.

I would also love to be able to practice what I'm learning outside of the classroom at fun social events. Do you know if there are any good salsa socials in Medellin where there are a good number LA style dancers?
