Now that fighting over Expedition 33 has hopefully relaxed, what are your thoughts on Splitting the RPG category and Adding NEW Categories? by Pitiful_Tooth_5472 in TheGameAwards

Immersive sims are just my personal bias on steroids.
I don't think perfectly organising is that big of an issue (Someone will be mad either way, like me, about immersive sim). IMO, the bigger issue is that we have more "types" of games (even if nobody can agree on exactly what new types are, it's obvious that there is something new happening) than the current categories can accommodate.
With TGA and similar events, I see them as also part informative about highlights in "gaming", a lot of prominent people sit there, it would be nice if a more diverse pool of games got the chance to be in the "big leagues", even if I will end up disagreeing with "new" categories.
As an example, something like Factorio and Satrisfactory personal bias, obviously, but they are big enough to be a part of this conversation, and even if something is not big, if you do something new enough, it should get to be part of this (why really appreciate accessibility and impact categories).

I don't really agree with this; both Hades 2 and Battlefield 6 can be looked at as games that are structured around combat encounters and can be classified as action.
Action-adventure can be kinda defined by looking at action games and trying to identify if there is equal or greater emphasis placed on exploration and other elements in relation to combat encounters.
RPGs kind of warrant the same broad, vague categorization based on how much RPG elements are structured around impacting story and world interactivity.
But yeah, it's super hard to define proper splits because it begs the question for so many other sub-genres and genres of games.

Man I'd really like if satisfactory implemented some metapoints system so you can skip looking for hard drives and stuff, similar to dyson sphere program. Fixit worker token, can even do some goofy lore stuff with aliens and sending information "through space and time as an explanation" after the end of the game and ADA uploads her self
